Read and Dalrymple have nudged the selectors with there performances. I would like to see Read in the team for sure. Also wouldn't be surprised to see Dalrymple become the lone spinner in our team if he carries on how he is at the moment. The perfect deputy for Giles

JD would bat above Jones, JD is a much better batsman than Jones or Giles. I see what you mean, but why drop Monty after plenty of wickets @21 against a team who face one of the best spinners in World Cricker in the nets?

Hoggard is unlikely to play, it might not affect his bowling, but stitches tend to stay in for a week.

These injuries are getting beyond a joke now; Lady Luck must be an Aussie.

Who comes in for Hoggard?

Would we play 2 spinners?

Will Hoggard maybe play, and be a risk too?

All shall be found out at Half Nine tomorrow morning on SkySportsNews.

Yep, I have a feeling that tommorrow is gonna be one miserable Sunday. Please God don't bring Bresnan in for cover!

No, shes a brit like all of the australian cricket team, but got sent to Australia for being a criminal, now she is bitter ;)

Back on topic: England should stick to pacers as replacements for hoggard because england lack good spinners that work in tandem

Read and Dalrymple all advancing their Test claims for England, and injuries to Hoggard, Asif and Kamran Akmal providing moments of concern for the respective team managements.

Oh no!

Yep, but if Hoggard is out we need a like-for-like replacement; altough I can't see Gough back in the side! :p

Good to see we aren't the only injury ravaged side! :p

I don't think Kamran Akmal's injury is that serious- He should play at Lords on Thursday. No idea on Asif's condition- Could anyone shed some light on this matter?

I have a nasty feeling that Shahid Afridi won't be in the side for Thursday- Faisal Iqbal has been playing beautifully the last few months and deserves a place in the Test side; and with Rana and Akhtar out, I reckon Pakistan will go for an extra pace bowler, who in this case will most likely be Umar Gul (Razzaq can't provide pure pace and his bowling hasn't been up to the mark recently). This of course leaves no space in the side for either Afridi or Razzaq. Afridi's been poor recently; he didn't perform for Ireland or in the match against Scotland. Let's see how he performs at the Twenty-20 game on Monday.

Anyways, this is the side I think Pakistan will play with at Lords:

Imran Farhat
Shoaib Malik
Inzamam-ul-Haq (c)
Mohammad Yousuf
Younis Khan
Faisal Iqbal
Kamran Akmal (w)
Mohammad Sami
Umar Gul
Mohammad Asif
Danish Kaneria

Nah, I think It will look something like this:

Imran Farhat
Shoaib Malik
Inzamam-ul-Haq
Mohammed Yousuf
Younis Khan
Abdul Razzaq
Shahid Afridi
Kamran Akmal
Mohammed Sami
Mohammed Asif
Danish Kaneria

Akmal at 8?! He's a much better batsman than that! Maybe Afridi should go 8; because of the type of player that he is.

I think this series will be back to normal in 2nd test..meaning Flintoff will be back, Rana will be back, if Hoggard is injured for first match he'll be back..who knows Anderson might come back in 2nd or 3rd test

Akmal almost always bats at 8, and anyway they have 3 extra bowlers in Malik afridi and farhat.

If what Sureshot says is true, then Anderson is out for the season. Back injuries are very serious.
