Absolutely class performance.

Mahmood did well despite his 6 overs going for 33.

Agreed, he bowled with fire and pace and those fugures don't reflect his performance. His first over would have troubled any batsman.

Tres gone, 30-1.

I think 300 on this pitch is our target.

It's a good pitch for the bowlers, well done Peter Marron, a pitch built for us at last.

Yep, I had a feeling Tres would be out like that. As long as one player scores a 100 we should be okay. How on earth has this ground not got an Ashes test?

Not sure, it should've done, but good things can come out of it as Athers was saying earlier on. OT needs redevloping.

True, but this pitch seems to be the only one that suits us in England. We should either have OT in the Ashes, or make all pitches suit our needs.

I think we should get about 400. I don't thinks it's so much a bowlers pitch, without Harmy we would of got them noway near down to a total like this. I doubt pakistan can skittle us cos they've got a load of mediocre medium pacers.

Pietersen in now and hopefully he can get a quick 50 at least. I've been impressed with Cook today; a very mature innings.

What's wrong with Peter Reid? He's an absolute legend!

19 runs behind now; we should look to have a lead of at least 50 at the close.

No the target should be at moments like this to bat till the end without losing another wicket.

We need KP for tomorrow.

Losing Strauss was a big blow, and he seemed to be unsettled by those flipping windows.

Why don't they tint them?

Cook has looked very good out there thogh; At Lords he looked edgy but he looks very composed here. And as for the windows, they should definitley be tinted.

I'm getting way ahead of myself here, but Cook is 21, and if he carries on performing like this then he is a real prospect for the future. He may well go on to score 8000 runs or more.

Okay, I am getting ahead of myself here.

Yep a bit ahead of yourself there Evertonfan but at the same time he is the first batsman England have had in a long time who looks like he could feasibly average over or very close to 50 through his test career. The likes of Australia, S Africa, Pakistan and India have all had batsman averaging over 50 for a almost a decade. Still it is getting a little ahead of ourselves as there are bound to be ups and downs in his career, hopefully more of the former. Personally I will be watching the rest of his career with great interest.
