Make NO mistake - party-pooping signs at Old Trafford, England v Pakistan, 2nd Test, Old Trafford, July 29, 2006

I don't agree with the banning of flags, banners and musical instruments but i'm glad that those damn annoying horns are banned!

It seems that Read has been called up for the third test. He deserves his chance but I get the feeling that if Read does bad with the bat, no one will give a damn. Let's hope he does well though.

Yup, GoJo's lack of runs does cost him his place in the end. But the pressure will be on Read now to get scoring in international level, something which he completely failed to do previously.

Oh the irony! Read keeps flawlessly for England and is dropped for Jones due to lack of runs. In his last 4 tests Jones keeps flawlessly and finally shows that he has made some big strides with his keeping, but is dropped for lack of runs!

If runs and not keeping is really the most important aspect of an international keeper, then it does seem strange that Prior hasn't been played yet (not that I think he should be as I am from the old school that a good keeper is worth their weight in gold)

Monty Panesar is a very good bowler but I hope he does'nt become overrated like some players.

ODI's are completley different from Tests.

Although I think that Read deserves his chance, I don't agree with changing a side halfway through a series, especially on the back of such a thumping victory.

Also, I get the feeling that around this time next year, Read will be struggling with the bat whilst Jones is scoring runs for fun at Kent, and all of those who wanted Read in the side will want GoJo back. Ah well, that's the way it goes I suppose.

Prior is a far better batsman in the longer form of the game, which is why he averages 15 more in FC cricket than he does in the OD game. He's only 24 as well so how that is classed as 'had his chance' I don't know.

FINALLY! GoJo out. Although he kept well Read can aswell, and Read has shown better batting form.

:)

Good to see you back Drewska!

Anyways, i'm happy that read has his chance, but I don't agree with the ECB dropping Jones halfway through the series. I know i've said this before but I just don't agree with it. If they weren't happy with his runs then they should have dropped him before the first test.

I have a feeling that although Read has now been selected and Geraint Jones has been dropped, Jones will still go on the tour to Australia. It'll be a long tour and he may get another chance and grasp it. He also has a good proportion of the season left for Kent to try get runs. I think it is quite a positive move for England.

lol Drew 'Just pretend this bit wasn't there.'
damn I though you said 'Keep GoJo' :p, now thats funny :D.

That's what I think. Although the ECB has stated that Jones' dropping was not due to injury, I don't believe them. They are using this injury as an excuse to give the public what they want and let Read play. I hope Jones goes down under, and I think he will. Athough Read's batting seems to have improved, let us not forget that it's county cricket. I don't mean to do downplay the skill involved in county cricket, but there is a huge gulf between Test and county cricket.
