We knew Hughes had a few shots for Paul Harris, but he chases Kaneria off his length with real purpose. He is playing the spinner a bit better than the opening bowler.

Good 50 for Watson. He's obviously worked hard to stamp out the indecision which causes the lbws and it's hard to see him getting plumb when he commits to the front foot. His preferred strokes make excellent viewing, though he's still a bit windy on his pulls. Would've looked a goose if he'd been caught at long leg but he still smashed that one.

Hughes hasn't played fluent, but the fact is he didn't get out. It doesn't matter how edgy he's been, we are 0/86 at Lunch and that's important. This is about a massive opening partnership that we need to get back into the game, not personal scores. So Hughes and Watson have both been exceptional and set up the platform for a big opening partnership and a big score.

Another 50 for Watson, hes in a Hussey like purple patch atm. He probably wishes he could get rid of his stats when he batted down the order.
