Pakistan Tour of Australia 2009/10

I may just have been annoyed today, but the commentary for this game sucked and Bill and Tony parroting about how Yousuf should have swung around and hit the ball away was high up on that list. Watch it in real time for start, by the time Yousuf works out where the ball has gone, actually LANDS himself after his shot, and realises he's only got one hand on the bat there wasn't much time to get a swing at the ball in. Yes it was POSSIBLE if he was super alert but to EXPECT him to do it is particularly optimistic. But watching a super slo mo replay and commenting on how he had heaps of time is just stupid.

But yes the commentary...every over they wanted the Pakistani batsmen doing something different. Salman should bat through the innings, Salman should get on with it, Younis should get on with it, oh wait no if he bats sensibly they'll make 270 which is very defendable. They should take the powerplay here, no they should wait for Afridi. It's the noticable difference between Test and ODI commentary. In Tests you can talk about field placings and how the batsmen are dealing with the bowlers or how the bowlers are looking to get the batsman out. But in ODI cricket there is none of that, it's about...wow he hit that hard, or gee he's scoring slow or stupid things like complaining about how the kits are too similar. Who cares? This is a sport that BOTH teams played in white for 100 years. And it's not like you are accidentally going to misjudge who is on what team like in basketball or soccer. The only people on the field who NEED to be wearing different colours are umpires.

/rant over. Sorry all...:(

the commentary has been pretty ordinary... Tony Grieg leading from the front....

First ball to Ponting is a jaffer too. Just saw the replay of the Watson ball, looks to have hit the end of the handle! Jaffers all round and Aamer is getting some late swing.

Note to Lillee here is the once in a lifetime bowler!

Ponting figured out a way to play the short ball, take it flush on the chest. Aamer bowling really well, getting some good swing, good pace too.

Asif getting it to swing as well, had a feeling this would happen to us. We really struggle under lights at the Gabba.
