Pakistan Tour of Australia 2009/10

Wonder why Smith has been called up as cover for Hauritz. It should be Krejza cause if he gets a game, he will get his asses kicked by the Pakistan batsmen and that would provide the viewers with some entertainment.

Answer: The Australian media can't write anything about cricket without comparing it to Aussie players or the team. See Misbah's interview the other day. The final article was 'Misbah says Aussies have lost their aura'. He said a LOT more stuff than that, but the Aussie journos picked out that little snippet and ran with it. It's getting real old, real fast. In fact I feel sorry for an Aussie cricket fans who get all their info from newspapers because they will know NOTHING about this Pakistan team.

Bryce McGain would also qualify :facepalm And people complain about Hauritz...there's no one else who can do a passable job without getting spanked. I still think Cullen Bailey is better than Smith, and Jon Holland should be playing for Victoria, not McGain. Not that either of them are awesome yet, but we need to at least see what they've got. Smith has plenty of time to develop, we don't need to chuck him in now.

Really looking to this series for two reasons- Mohammad Aamer and Umar Akmal. Hopefully I'll be awake to watch some of it :laugh. I hope the Pakistanis tear the Aussies apart courtesy Aamer and Umar. If Pakistan do lose, I hope that at least Watson will get the slap across and the ass-whooping he deserves. Hate him. Hope he doesn't get a single wicket in the entire series.

Because Krejza already got his ass kicked in the warm up. They already called him up for Perth so no reason why they wouldn't again. Bailey would be a good option but SA stuffed his chances by not playing him more and same for Holland.

Would be better if he got 0 runs, as that is his main job in the team. Watto hate is uniting the cricket world!

1st Test: Australia v Pakistan at Melbourne
Dec 26-30 (10:30 local, 23:30 GMT)

This is what Cricinfo says. That can't be right because then the match should have started 1hour 35minutes ago. What time does it actually start (GMT)? Or in how long?

OK Pakistan fans, there is talk of playing both spinners in this match. Thoughts? And what about Umar Gul vs Rauf? Would Gul be in your team?

Another question is Shoaib Malik. I gather he hasn't been batting well recently, but I think he'd be very handy to play as your 2nd spinner. Looking at your top 6, who else can chip in as a 5th bowler? Maybe Farhat? I think someone who can bowl 10 overs a day would be handy here in Australia, especially if you are relying on 3 pacemen and no 5th bowler. The quicks will get tired quite quickly if they are in the field for a day and a half. Maybe that's wishful Aussie-biased thinking, but I think you'll need the extra bowler.

And it looks like a pretty long tail for Pakistan too. Can any of your bowlers bat?? Because the stats aren't very good.

Not a Pakistani but I can say a few words about your questions.

Kaneria picked up a finger injury during practice, same finger he had surgery on a few months ago and is in doubt for the 1st tests so there might only be one spinner with some part timers bowling. That part timer will probably be Farhat, unless they decide that 2 spinners is a must and then they might decide to go with Malik but that is unlikely because he has been struggling with the bat. And his replacement in the team Misbah isn't in the greatest batting form at all.

Umar Gul struggled for the most part in the tests against New Zealand and Rauf has done well in the warm ups in New Zealand and the one in Australia. Pakistani selectors being stubborn will probably go with Gul and omit Rauf or they might even decide to be stupider and take Sammi which is the worst decision they can make out of the 3 options.

The only bowler that can bat is the youngster Aamer. He has done well with the bat since starting his career.

If the middle order does not hold firm, Pakistan will struggle to make 250. Lots of pressure on Yousuf and the two AKmals to perform.

yea they struggled against a somewhat weaker NZ attack and barely made big scores as a team so it will be tough against the Aussies, I expect them to go after Hauritz.

How about Bryce McGain?
