Pakistan tour of Zimbabwe, Sep 2011

Pitch is too flat for quicks to make any impressions specially with the pace of Aizaz and Sohail.... Junaid was good and so will be our spinners.

Mawoyo scores his hundred! :D It hasn't been easy, but he battled through and got there in the end. He needs to hang around though, because there is pretty much just the tail left. :p

Lamb does seem to be confident at the crease, which is good. :)

I can't watch the match but the pitch is veryyyy flat from what I have heard, why did Misbah choose to bowl first?? The second string bowling attack Pakistan has is just not good enough. There is only so much Ajmal can do.

Third string string if you include AA.

But yeah, not that impressed by either of them. Junaid looked good, but is way off from world class atm. And why are they playing Cheema? The guy's over 30. Should've had Riaz in his place.

Zimbabwe fought well, but looking at the ease at which Hafeez was getting his runs, I reckon its a pretty flat deck. Need to bat all day tom, match the Zim score and then get a sizeable lead. I hope the pitch doesnt remain as flat as the scorecard seems.

You just cannot go with this inexperienced bowling lineup. You can get away with it in the ODIs but surely not in the TESTs? Would have liked to see Tanvir Ahmed and Wahab Riaz, they surely along with Gul are our first choice seamers in this version.

Why isnt Asad Shafiq playing? Surely he deserves the spot? I think you need to chuck out Umar, promote Ali as opener and get Shafiq in. Umar is an ordinary player.

Anyone else notice that Ali seems to have lost weight?

Its a shame that this pitch is so flat, otherwise it could be a decent game like the one in Galle. Im really surprised Shafiq is not playing, last time when we played Pakistan I thought he was one of the better batsman for you in that series.

Also, what is the reason behind Gul, Wahab etc. not playing, are they just having a rest?? Its not like they have been playing that much cricket and they could have just played the test and not played the ODIs.

I am not really sure. I dont see why we have to plan so much for the faster bowlers. The logical explanation could be that the selectors dont see Umar Gul as the person who can lead the attack, but more of a person who does well at a supporting role. OR the other possible reason is they are looking for someone who can put an Aamir-like first impression, which none of these bowlers can.

You can understand Gul being out, but should have given a full series to Tanvir Ahmed and Wahab Riaz, its not as if they are regular TEST starters themselves.

I wonder if Pakistan didn't think this would be easy..................... Decent effort so far by Zimbabwe, still a bit worried their batting lacks depth with four non-combatants down the order when they have so many bowling options. Could well fizzle out into a draw, good to see Zimbabwe not getting murdered in their return to Tests although bigger fish will have them for breakfast.

This match needs a big collapse to give it some life...

Zimbabwe still in good shape though as they are still 50 odd in front. Younis Khan scoring at 30 S/R...come on mate :facepalm

Apparently hes teaching the players how to build an innings and score 500-600 runs in an innings.

Disappointed to see Akmal go out at the end, really needed him there. Get as much runs as we can, the pitch seems to be cracking up. Wonder why we didnt go with another spinner...

Valid Questions... but we dont have any justifiable answers perhaps.

Pakistan need to play next two sessions and Then declare. After that they'll have 4 sessions with around 200 runs lead.Let's hope they get ZIm out within 3 Sessions
