Pakistan vs England Jul-Aug-Sep 2010

Good news for Pakistan is Kamran Akmal's injury. Personally for him it's sad, but not for the team's performances.

Pakistan should have called for a new wicketkeeper already.

shouldn't Zulqurnain be fit now?

I'm not sure this statement is entirely one of fact.

Cause and effect statements relating to sport and made by online fans rarely are.

With regard to Yardy contributing to Swann's wickets, there may be something to it. 46% of Swann's wickets have been taken after an over from Yardy, but these overs come with an economy of 5.33. On the other hand, 71% of Yardy's wickets have come after an over of Swann, whose overs brought an economy of 4.6.

tl;dr: It seems Yardy feeds off Swann and not the other way around. I think the best argument is that Yardy is competent enough and you could definitely get worse (eg, Bresnan). At such proximity to the World Cup, it may be a poor move to change something which does not seem to be overly consequential.

To suggest what happens in one over directly affects what happens in another is a cause and effect relationship that is merely conjecture. If I fart after the third ball of an over and a wicket falls the next ball it doesn't mean my farting has caused the wicket :sarcasm It is entirely possible that events during a match happen because they happen, the only time you may reasonably conclude a cause and effect relationship exists is in a collapse where there is clear pressure and not just a hypothetical pressure caused by a low economy rate.

This is pretty bad umpiring from Doctrove. Why didn't he refer that stumping of Wright to the third umpire? Replays showed there is enough reason to do that.

He doesn't have to refer to the 3rd umpire. It's only a tool for if he is not certain. Replays showed he was possibly out, but it wasn't obvious the foot lifted until you saw several replays. Most would have referred, but it's an aid.

Disappointing from England, credit to Pakistan and in particular Umar Gul, who bowled well in helpful conditions.

I thought Wright did well with the bat, thought it was pretty stupid he had to bat with Anderson in the powerplay, but they won't learn. No idea how you can blame Wright for that loss tbh.

That really was a stupid shot by Swann, yet to get off the mark and goes after the last ball of the guy who just took a 5fer. Barely even went after it, sort of checked it at the end. Probably was busy thinking of some cheeky comment to tweet after winning the game

I think a lot of England batsmen should hang their heads in shame, those who got out early and those who could have seen off the obvious threat and yet didn't.

For a change Wright can only take blame for his "bowling", his batting was about as good as it ever gets. Shame the lower order contributed just seven runs off 28 balls and didn't offer much support. That said Davies, Trott, Bopara and YARDY didn't exactly contribute much either. Trott, Bopara and Yardy made just 13 runs and took 34 balls in doing so which is barely much better than Bresnan, Broad, Swann and Anderson.

I'm kinda glad England lost, for one Swann and his stupid foot in mouth "whitewash" might perhaps encourage him to STFU. And it brings England back down to earth with a bump, I think they, the media and some fans were getting a bit carried away. I'm still sure England would be better off leaving Yardy, Wright and Bresnan in the wings for a rainy day, but no doubt they will do enough every third blue moon to be persisted with. Much like Giles, they'll rack up plenty of caps and do nothing much with the usual lines trawled out about pressure causing wickets at the other end, blah blah blah

We won a game.

In fairness you probably should have won the previous game and be 2-1 up, but for a poor decision and the absence of walking/honesty

Don't worry, guys. England will win the next ODI.

About the ODI rankings: England was ranked 2nd in the world, but after this loss they're now ranked 5th. That's how close the teams are.

If Pakistan wins another ODI and England still win the ODI series England could still end up being ranked the 6th in the world.

If England wins all the remaining 2 ODI's they will be still ranked 2nd.

Reminds me of Flintof against the West Indies in Jamaica when Taylor produced that great spell.
I think Flintof was the only batsman to score more then 10 runs but he decided not to try and fight on and try to bat with the tailenders instead he tried to slog Fidel Edwards across the line and the ball ended up hitting the pads and then the stumps.

England's side was really unbalanced. They were a batsman short and it showed. What a fail. Though, when Gul has his good day he is pretty hard to play. It's a shame for Pakistan it only happens every 20 or so games.

West Indies are so great. ████ ████ ████. :/

I don't see what he has written there. I only see three bars.

Next ODI will be played on a Monday. ECB really are making a mess of the scheduling. They should have tried to get as much as possible matches during the weekends.

I don't see his dumb posts at all. Only if someone quotes it...

When you write sh|t it puts the black bars over it.

So, he posted three times shlt? :laugh

I tried to quote the post without replying, but I still couldn't see his message.

Anyway, I am just hoping that Pakistan has called already a back-up wicketkeeper from Pakistan.

I thought Swann would say something about the match, but he is just avoiding it. I didn't know he had an iPhone. Now I see he has posted a lot of messages with his iPhone.

If only Pakistan didn't stuff up in the 2nd ODI when they set that massive total. Razzaq was a good addtion, his late hitting is always handy.
