I wonder if the problem withing pakistan is the culture of failure that surrounds the team.

apart from amin and ali, who look really sub-par players, most of their debutants look really sound. in fact, akmal and alam both hit tons in their first few matches. Amir has been a revelation, haider showed uncharacteristic fight, this Wahab guy is bowling very well and quick.

only Asif has any record of consistent performance over a period of time.

it seems the best thing a pakistan cricketer can do is not play for pakistan.

The seamers usually come from a good mould. The archetypal Pakistani fast bowler doesn't just have skill and pace, but also has the cricket brain and mental toughness.

Although its obvious Cook shouuld be dropped now. The unfortunate truth is that their is no definate goodcounty opener replacement who can come in & do well. I personally think Key would be the best of an average bunch to come in, but then again he doesn't ooze confidence either. *Sighs*

This top-order collapse also reinforces the point that England cannot go into any Ashes test with only 6 batsmen, in order to accomodate 5 bowlers.
