Pakistan vs England Jul-Aug-Sep 2010

Ill pan out a hypothetical for you Ollie.

Live betting is updated each over, so the bookie checks and sees what the count is for "no balls in the next over". Say its "2"

He will bet big on "over 2" and then somehow communicate to the bowler on the field to bowl 3 no balls the next over.

Spot bets are legal, bet365 offers tons of them. They are actually quite fun, if you feel someone is batting well then bet on them to get X amount of runs etc.

And watch the PCB get the ICC to call it a draw :laugh

Ahh okay, I do get spot/live betting, but when your putting on that much money on a certain 'spot' it has to be a lot more obvious. I mean guessing how many runs some guy is going to get is usually done in brackets, so I guess this must be too? This is a terrible thing to go down, but as has been said, it's clear that it is actually true. A sad day for Pakistan and cricket in general.

Who are the bookmakers who do these spot bets? Blackmarket gambling?

I'm pretty sure that Amir was bowling them purposely. Every no ball was so big that they even noted how big they were on Cricinfo commentary.

I know. I'm saying it's convenient for the guy planning when he will bowl the no balls. Logical from his point of view.

I don't see how they can "abandon" the test though. Under what grounds can it be cancelled plus you've got all the supporters who are turning up tomorrow.

That being said I doubt any of the players implicated will want to show their heads tomorrow.

Also why haven't cricinfo got anything up about this yet? Pretty slow of them its massive news.

Ofc they are not going to abandon the Test, this is not Pakistan :laugh these are only allegations in a tabloid, nothing has been proven yet.

Insomniac just wants Pakistan to "draw" a Test in the only way they know how, by cheating.

To think I had just gained a massive amount of respect Salman Butt as a skipper and as a batsman. And now this has come up, a sad sad day.

Well arrests have already been made.

Who knows by tomorrow half of the Pakistan team could be locked up.

:laugh

What's it got to do with Salman Butt?

Disappointing news if it is proven to be true. To whoever was asking about spot-betting, I think it's just used as something different to bet on, rather than the result. For example, in Football people bet on things like the number of corners in a match.

Salman Butt is involved.

As is Kamran Akmal, Mohammad Amir, and Mohammad Asif.

Remember how Cook got to a 100 in the 3rd test?

Makes you think :)

What's it got to do with Salman Butt?

Its his manager implicated and the News of the World claim that Butt was the ring leader.

Just from the outside the only one who looks guilty would be Amir but I'm suspecting they've got alot harder proof than just the pictures of Amir bowling no balls.

This must be some sort of conspiracy to make Pakistan look bad in the worlds eyes. I reckon its the same people who hacked Google to show Pakistanis love donkey rape

Sky Sports News: Pakistan are currently having a meeting with a response expected shortly.

They're just showing some of the no balls on the news and they are all massive.
