Sami bundles India out for 273

Not surprisingly, Inzamam opted for the new ball at the beginning of the day, and right away turned to his quick bowlers to do the damage. On a pitch where Akhtar was surprisingly ineffective against the tail enders, Sami of all people took advantage of the new ball and wiped the tail out.

First to go was Dhoni, who got out in a painfully typical Dhoni dismissal while trying to slog Sami over the covers. He was able to add just 3 runs for the day.

After the keeper's dismissal, the tail enders seemed to want to bowl as quickly as possible, at least that's the way it looked judging by the shots being played. It was almost as if we were watching the end of an ODI inning. Sami was able to take advantage of this mentality and bowled India out with an explosive spell for a modest total of 273 runs. India now trail by 81 runs heading into Pakistan's second inning.

Wow, can't believe I never realised this story until now NP. I'm impressed, keep up your good work.

As long as you keep up this high standard of work, my appreciation will continue to flow.

good to see you start her back up mate, great comeback from your bowlers and brilliant spell from Sami:)

Pathan ruins Pakistan's good start

Even though Pakistani openers started off well enough, India were once more able to make early breakthroughs. Irfan Pathan brought back fond memories of 2004 with a brilliant opening spell, in which he dismissed Salman Butt and Younis Khan on consecutive deliveries! Both of these batsmen scored impressively in the first inning so this is certainly a huge blow for Pakistan.

First, Butt was fooled by a Hoggard-esque outswinger which was caught behind by the keeper. The very next ball, Pathan bowled a beautiful inswinging yorker that Younis had no answer for.

But just as in the past, an over of sheer brilliance followed utter mediocrity. With Yousuf at the crease with Shoaib Malik looking to rescue his team, Pathan bowled an over of garbage that got smashed for 16 runs. In need of saving runs, Dravid didn't hesitate taking him off the attack for a few overs.

Pakistan 49/2 after 12 overs, lead by 130 runs.

No more updates until I get some sleep. I wanna be able to handle Kumble with a fresh mind :p

Thanks KB.

BTW, how do you guys like the animations? Too much or better than posting all the screenshots?

yea i say you should stay with what you are doing now and lets say post the score cards every 20 overs or so maybe......

Agarkar strikes big for India

After that expensive over from Pathan, Pakistan were cruising along nicely picking up singles. Malik was able to fend off Kumble after hitting him for a couple of boundaries, while at the other end, Yousuf kept hammering Agarkar's half volleys through the covers, but carelessly poked at one that took a thick edge off his bat and went through to the first slip.

India clearly on top at the moment. Inzamam in next.

Malik gets his 50 as India lose grip

Shoaib Malik and Inzamam-ul-Haq have put on a very careful 50 run pertnership. Shoaib's half-century and watchful batting by the batsmen seem to be taking the game away from India. Although there is still more than two days remaining in the day and Pakistan's lower order is anything but stable.

Irfan Pathan and Harbhajan Singh are now on to bowl.
