I'm going to set out tomorrow or day after and buy myself a copy of AC09, and GTA IV. I'll try and ask the sales person what the sales on it (and GTA IV) have been like.
GTA IV is more popular than AC09, so more piracy hence less sales :p.

Why not just not sell the game in Asia and see how badly pirated it is then? Less distribution needed so less costs, and at least make the pirates work for their game as there will be far fewer ways to obtain it.

They should sell the game in India, I agree. But at the same price or maybe slightly reduced for the console versions.

Video games are a luxury, it is not as if we are talking about some inelastic staple good here. If you cannot afford to buy it then too bad so sad, perhaps your time would be better spent working anyways.

  2. Don Bradman Cricket 14 - Steam PC
Usually one guy pirates it and uploads on ThePirateBay or rapidshare then the whole world gets it. So not releasing in Asia won't help.

They can easily stop pirates from playing online on PC but offline is another story. Anyways, this time they should see if it makes lot of difference not releasing on PC and then take it from there

Even if they pirate it for offline but online is protected through CD-Key, it will promote sales. Offline will be like a free demo.

I know from experience..once you play a good game offline you eventually would want to play online and the only way to do that is buy the real game if every user is checked through unique cd-keys. Its why I ended up buying Age Of Mythology :p

Good point, since sports games are now all about online play, they might as well consider the single player as a demo. People who really want the game will eventually buy it after getting tired of the single player and wanting to play online

nope here is a blog

sachin_rocks added 3 Minutes and 4 Seconds later...

one more link

You want me to believe that unknown blog of some dude , that too without pics !!! There are plenty of monkeys out there who claim that they have seen a PS3 that plays backups etc. The truth is ......... THERE IS NO PIRACY ON A PS3 .

I will believe you when a reputed gaming website makes those claims. Remember in theory you do need a Blue Ray Burner (which would cost a lot) & a Superb internet connection (that can download 25/50 gig worth of games) only to be burnt on an expensive Blue Ray discs. All this is not feasible for pirates.

BTW, The second link goes to ICICI Lombard Insurance ????

There, Marky said it . Video games are made after investing a lot of Money, Time & Effort. So its not wrong if the developer demands to receive a little remuneration for is hard work. Just because a person cant afford something, he has no right to steal it.

the second part is true but still a blank blu-ray costs 1,000 so and a group can buy a blu-ray burner around 20,000 so they sell the game at 1500 and earn a profit of 500 so just 40 copies and they cover their cost for the burner now life time free profit

also oops second part was supposed to show the images but i clicked the bookmark from my browser:facepalm

here is the that link

one idea enter credit card details to start the game.
something like this and every installation required new credit card.
what i mean is when the game is started and main menu there comes the option says pay through credit card and for people in uk australia or online order you get a code to put in.
not exactly like steam though.

How do you expect 12 year old kids to enter credit card details to play a video game ?

I really hate the fact that Codies is going to ignore the PC market. :(

But I also feel that they deserve due credit for the work that's been put into a game. I don't have a PS3 or a X360 so I might be missing out on this edition but I'm happy. Fight the pirates and hopefully they might release for PC the next time around.

The sooner piracy goes down the better....which would probably need the right pricing (read AC09 pricing in India). Decide on an affordable price and piracy is beaten. People should support the developers. Piracy is like that random guy stealing your own invention and marketing it without your consent. Imagine how we would feel.
