Have seen this happen a few times now and usually happens with a left arm spinner. The spinner bowls way outside off and the only way to end the over is to move to the off side and hit the deliveries if you can. The bowler does throw some reachable deliveries so it doesn't result in an endless loop. Good thing is once the over ends everything's back to normal and the next over by the same spinner isn't full of wides.
