Interesting game tomorrow. Chennai vs Rajasthan. CSK can still mathematically not qualify for the playoffs as 4 other teams can end up with equal or higher points than CSK if they (CSK) lose all their remaining games. So CSK should seal the playoff berth tomorrow and also try and seal a Top 2 berth.

Waiting to see when Faf gets his chance. Also someone like Aparajith and Imtiaz Ahmed. Mohit is doing well, but we can rotate among the Indian recruits and try them out too. Rajasthan should be tough at home, but if a team can challenge an away fortress, its Chennai this season. We have a better away record than home record this season (only 1 defeat away to Mumbai vs 2 defeats at home to Mumbai and Pune).

P.s: I would swap the venues for tomorrow and have CSK and Rajasthan play in Ranchi, and have KKR and RCB play in Jaipur. I mean, HOW THE HELL CAN YOU HAVE A GAME IN RANCHI WITHOUT THE PRESENCE OF MSD?? And why Ranchi when both teams (RCB and KKR) are not associated with Ranchi? Its stupid to organize a game in Ranchi and not have CSK play in it.

Rajasthan will have a lucky escape if the wash out happens. CSK is good at breaking fortresses. Also considering RR vs CSK clashes, remember the game where even a Watson hundred couldn't save Rajasthan?:lol

I want it to be a washout. If that happens and if RR wins the upcoming games then RR will be ahead of MI by 1 point,if MI lose 1 also.I feel ashamed to see RR and MI in the same position. :(

Back on Ranchi being selected as the venue tomorrow, was it selected out of a lottery to have Ranchi as venue for this game? I mean, Ranchi is neither home for Bangalore nor Kolkata. Its like both teams playing in a neutral venue. If they have given Ranchi a game that was meant to be played in Chennai, it would have made tremendous sense because due to Dhoni, Ranchi is home away from home for Chennai. The home advantage would have remained intact.

Now two teams are playing with no home advantage whatsoever, and I personally feel it takes away from the beauty of the IPL. This season, home advantage has played a crucial part and we are basically robbing one team of home advantage.

The idea behind having matches in cities like Ranchi and Raipur is to merely put on a show for those who don't have the luxury of having a local team, nothing more, nothing less.

Yeah. But when you have a team like Chennai which has Ranchi's favorite son, Dhoni in it, they could have replaced a home game for Chennai with a game in Ranchi, right?

Considering Chennai and Ranchi are a little over 1700 kms apart, no, not right. :p

It's all about the travel Sai, only about it actually. Raipur, who hosted 2 of the home (but away) games for Delhi is a mere 250 kilometers away from the city, Dharamsala too is only 250 odd kilometers away from Mohali, Ranchi is a little different in the sense that it's 400 some kilometers away from Kolkata, but still, it's no Chennai to Ranchi.

----------

With that said, it would've made a whole lot of sense for all the Chennai matches to be moved out to Ranchi when the whole Sri Lankan issue was prevalent, but ofc, that was never done...

With srh beating punjab so today is the must win match for rcb to maintain their playoffs spot. Yes I also agree that csk should be playing at ranchi not this kkr or rcb non of thems home ground nor any player from those quads from jharkand. but never mind rcb have a great chance to beat kkr as we are playing at ranchi not in kolkatta

Epic's point was correct. Its about the distance you travel and not about the player.Chennai to Ranchi? Please! Its more than 1500 Kms.But Calcutta to Ranchi is nearer.

What's this thing about 'travel'? When the IPL is being played all over the country, why should the teams worry about travel. Its all air travel and they spend bucketfuls of money to move players from one place to another. In a cash rich tournament like IPL, do they even worry about travel?

And if you are talking about travel for the fans, well for that one game the Chennai fans can watch the game from home. And with Dhoni being a pin up boy in Ranchi, there should be hordes of Ranchi people who will grab the tickets for the game thereby leaving very little for Chennai fans who want to travel and watch the game. The grounds will be full irrespective of whether its in Chennai or Ranchi.

Back to the game, people might feel 141 is not a good enough score but seeing the pitch provide enough assistance for faster bowlers, I think Chennai are very much in the game. But they have to get past the opening pair of Dravid and Rahane who might be the best guys to counter movement off the pitch. And then Watto.

But after a brilliant opening partnership, CSK fell quite a bit.

Amazing cricket! Brilliant pitch.... Great excitement! Rajasthan have two best guys out there who can take them to 142. Dravid is the guy I fear most. Get him Chennai...

These two teams have to be in the finals. Best 2 teams of the competition.

Disappointing.... Seeing the way the seamers bowled, we needed one additional seamer on this pitch. Today, Dhoni's failure cost us big time. It was so uncharacteristic to see MS Dhoni come out and trying to blaze away when clearly it required him to do his usual "slow start, pick up pace later" kind of innings... Also the choice to bowl Ashwin in that over when Jadeja was a more "faster off the air" type bowler cost us again. On this pitch, pace on the ball speaks loud.

Congrats to Rajasthan! CSK still not completely into the playoffs. If Delhi cause an upset next game and other teams get to 20 pts or more quickly, CSK will be back in a similar "race to the playoffs" thing. CSK not comfortable here. They better beat Delhi at home and seal the playoff spot. A top 2 finish is still quite some places away, seeing the form of Rajasthan and Mumbai.
