It should actually be S.Badrinath ahead of R.Ashwin. Badri adds so much value to the team and there are teams which would bid for Badri too, so retaining Badri is a much wiser decision.

honestly as much as i like badri and would like him to get a test cap before he retires, i personally think he would hav performed much better in SA than rohit.

I always see him as a liability in ipl, cant bowl, isnt the the quickest on field, slow rate ,i would accept the slow rate if he was a crisis man, but he hardly performs when wickets tumble, but slows down the juggernaut when everything runs fine.

if only csk can sign in steyn

I'm pretty sure the retention policy does exactly the opposite of what you said it does. How can an fan be loyal when the players shuffle around teams so often?

If you've observed something- after IPL 3, only 4 players were allowed to retain. Now it is 5. Slowly the transfers will come down, by stagnating the big names to their respective franchisees. I do not see players like Kohli, Dhoni, Raina, Ashwin playing for any other franchisee now. They are into RCB/CSK for three more years (9 years in total) and who knows, there might be limit for each and every team after IPL 9 that they have to retain some amount of players for minimum. And once IPL has some decent history for itself, may be you can see transfers only among domestic and uncapped players.

Each and every transfer might just sound as big as like Gareth Bale coming into Real Madrid :p .

Guys the fresh auction will be entertaining for sure for example Mi are stuck with 1 RTM card and they got maxi and mitch to pick both have been match winners in their own right and players from PWI will be there so just wait and watch

Yup the teams that doesn't retain many players will surely spend big money on getting players like Bhuvi,Finch,Yuvi & Robin.

By the way, does anybody know the exact date of auctions? And will it be broad-casted by SONY ET in India? I don't wanna miss to watch it live.

sitting through 5 hrs of team owners raising their bat on seeing the image of a player count me out:noway, i will just watch the squadlist next day on cricinfo:thumbs

guess it would be avail on youtube as they did last year

So we have the list of retained players now and I am quite surprised to see the likes Vohra and Harbhajan in that list. I quite firmly expected Azhar Mahmood and Pragyan Ojha/Mitchell Johnson to be retained in their place by the respective franchise.

Full retention details here.

Manan Vohra is a legend by now. -_-

Delhi should have retained KP or Morkel there. :(

I don't see what's wrong with Vohra being there I got a feeling this will be his season, although I would have added Mandeep and PK to the list, but I think we should be able to pick them up anyway. Plus we got the money now, so I really hope Zinta has done her homework this time.

Well last year before the auction, Preity Zinta said that she has done her homework on players and than she bought Manpreet Gony.

^He had a up and down season, not sure what to call that signing tbh. But the worst one was probably, uhm the deals that happen in IPL 4.
