My belief is that it has been known for some time that it will be late and that the non-disclosure is not reasonable as people are putting money down.
Devils advocate, but the "been known for some time" element of the release date not being accurate has only been
known to you. Chief, for whatever reason, isn't aware of any delay nor have we seen any other public mention of a delay from anyone else, other than the
competition.
I mean, we can put two and two together and look at the supporting material (no screens, videos etc) and come to an assumption, but it's just that until we hear anything official. Further to that, I'd MUCH rather the game be delayed and be really good, then rushed, unfinished just to upset everyone and kill a brand again after years of nothing in the cricket game world.
Ideally, we're rooting for everyone to succeed here, as fans.
I don't think I'm in the minority here at PC either.
If I was to release my date then stores would take money for pre-orders, indeed stores here that have seen our game have asked that be allowed to take pre-orders but I have declined.
I don't see the problem in that, to be honest. People are going to pay for the game either way. Taking pre-orders, whether it's delayed or not, doesn't really matter because (logically) the people making pre-orders are your tier-one fanbase, ie, the PlanetCricket lot. You're going to get our money either way...

Which is fair enough, I just don't think the jabs at the other guys for potentially missing a date are [fair] when you haven't got a date announced for this game.
I think that's a fair assessment. Speaking for myself, I'm
always one to put my money where my mouth is, so to speak. I'm happy to eat humble pie when I get it wrong, or other people disagree because ultimately I learn something from the experience. For mine, you're better to set the pace, set the example... rather than hide in the shadows and wait for someone to fall over, before kicking them when they're down.
I mean, nobody wants to "Sim City" their Cricket game here, least of all any of the fans. Two successful games will breed healthy innovation and competition. We're in a better place if we get that. Two really good cricket games.
