Post your questions about the game here!

...heh. It's interesting to be able to see so far behind the wizards curtain, makes this place exciting...

Okay, so you've already made a decision based on some personal intelligible criteria. That's completely different to how I (and most people) make purchases - ie, using reason, logic and research.

QUOTE]

No wrong again, I have used research from this forum and found out the game has none of the features I want in a cricket game again, limited editing, player height, no online save, the list is pretty long, that's primarily why I won't buy the game. My point is most kids don't have this knowledge before a game is released.

I've got a nephew and young brother in law who like cricket and would most likely buy Ashes without reading reviews, i'll obviously tell them not to, but their are thousands of kids who don't have someone to tell them. That's why rubbish games sell thousands of copies, normally because of licenses. It's pretty selfish to say, well I'm ok i'll wait for a review.

You do realize nothing that is said in this forum is fact until it's on the box, right? That's been said a number of times by Chief and Ross... Granted, we know Ashes will not include some of the things that Ant may include, but nothing for sure on either game. I just don't get your decision making process, that's all. Not trying to be a dick, but I think it's weird to take away anything from a third-party fan forum as fact, that's all. Way back when EA was promising everything under the sun, then delivered nothing after the game was set-free in the market, plenty of folks got burnt... I think you gotta take everything said here with a grain of salt until there's a real product to review, in my opinion.

But then, maybe I'm the crazy one.

Wow, just wow!

Edit - too shocked to reply right now

On what he's said about the game, I'm buying it day one. But if you can only get one, I think regardless of the pre-game info, real experiences of playing them is the best way of making a decision.

If I had to pick one game without having played either, I'd get Big Ant's because of the career mode - because I'm fairly sure regardless of how it plays I'd get more replay value out of it.

Thanks - thought it was a little insensitive towards Ross and he might think of this as a very ungrateful world.

You do talk a lot of rubbish, now your saying Ashes might have things in that Chief says is not in his game and that Ross could be conning us about things that are in his game.

Got to leave for a while, your doing my swede in.

No.

  • What I'm saying is we know a good chunk about what both games may contain but we won't know until we have played them both.
  • What I'm saying is both developers are keeping their hand pretty tight on their chest waiting for one to blink in terms of actual confirmed features and showing gameplay.
  • What I'm saying is one looks to have more built-in customization features and one doesn't, based on information garnered through third party discussions.
  • What I'm saying is neither game has shown any gameplay so basing a purchasing decision on what is said in a third party forum, is pretty silly.

Bullet-points are the best.

If the release date of AC13 is indeed postponed, only time will tell if is good or bad for them, however it 'will' add to the already negative vibe around that (AC13 i.e.) game.

- First, the burden of being developers of IC2010 which had its share of problems (gamebreaking for some...like me) that were not rectified even after promises made before the release of the game. People (except a few on this forum) are already skeptical of what Trickster would come up with this time around.

- Then the features revealed by BigAnt that totally overshadowed the stuff provided in AC13, and eventually took the momentum away from AC13, as is evident from the no. of posts in both the threads during the last 2-3 months.

- Then came the negative talks on AC13's thread about how BigAnt is providing every feature that the fans craved for since a looooooong time, while 505 Games just kept refusing them, citing valid reasons from the developer's perspective, but from a gamer's perspective, those reasons really didnt count, did they?

It is only now that AC13 could have started gaining some momentum back since we are only a month (almost) away from the release of the game, and people would be excited to hear about its features etc which would have been revealed any time now, and would be just as excited to get their hands on a cricket game in a month. If, however, the release date does get postponed now, it will really be a big blow to 505 Games as it will just add a lot more to the already negative vibe!

On top of that, if due to this delay, BigAnt does manage to push out their game before AC13, ashes or no ashes, AC13 will more likely be buried to the ground (unless 505 Games could pull out a marketing mircale from their hat), as people who want to buy a cricket game, and I am sure there are loads of them who will buy only 'one' cricket game this year.....atleast at launch, would already have bought a 'superior' true next gen cricket game (based on the facts revealed so far) and would therefore not be interested in buying an outdated (feature-wise) game just because it has licenses of two countries!!!

I always thought that, projected sale-wise, BigAnt Cricket and AC13 were on equal terms 'only' because AC13 was gonna be released before BigAnt cricket along with the Ashes license, as there are a lot of people who will buy only one single cricket game, and they would, in all probability, buy the first one available in the market.

I think the forum post-activity has more to do with the fact we're all active participants in a beta-test than anything else. But some valid points none the less. If you look at the overall numbers, if we're using "how many people are posting" as science behind which game has more "momentum" there's only a few thousand difference, and that's... what... a "Naveenncc" crazy thread away from evening up?

Am not basing it only on the posts on this forum.....am basing it more on the general atmosphere, with respect to this game, around me....whether it is on these forums, IVG forums, gaming friends I talk to etc., and almost everyone is skeptical about AC13.

However, the general consensus still remained that just to keep the competition going, we should support both the games (if we can afford), atleast for this version of the game, as really, only with the next version of both these games would we be able to comprehend who is more serious to get the best cricket game out in the market. This time around, 505 Games, do get the 'benefit of doubt' (since that is also a influential part of cricket :p), as they are building a game from scratch and really could not have forecasted the fact that BigAnt would come out with such a fantastic feature list in their 'first' game itself.

However, 505 Games really need to get their game out before BigAnt. If people do get used to bowling without cursors and batting without any markers......they would not like to go back to the old ways of playing the game and would rather focus on the next year of their career mode :p

gaming friends I talk to etc., and almost everyone is skeptical about AC13.

So there does exist an Indian market for a cricket game beyond these forums and the internet, albeit small.:p

Yeah, why didn't I receive some of the Naveenncc wisdom to light up our forums :(
