Will the game be available for download on Xbox in Canada?

Ross, would we have some 'dreadful' pitches in the game where some balls keep very low, some jump up from a good length as well, some are slow off the surface while some skid off the surface!! All of it on the same pitch???

Dont think Ross has ever mentioned that the game would be available either on PSN or Xbox Live!!

It will be eventually, MS make us wait 90 days.

Spin Controls

I?ll try to keep this shorter than the Pace controls. :)

Unlike pace bowling you choose your line as well as your length before the run up. LAS held up straight will be aiming at offstump, moving it left or right will change the line across the crease. Holding that and then Pressing Y, B, A will determine your length.

As the bowler runs up you rotated the LAS in the direction you want to spin the ball, There is an ideal rotation time to get the most out of your bowler, then the bowler will automatically go into his delivery and you must flick a direction on the RAS to determine the type of delivery, this will give quicker darted in bowls, floating, drifting, wind will play it?s part and working out the condition of the pitch and where you want that ball to land are crucial.

With the differences in bowling controls, it?ll take some practise to switch between the two, there are people in the office that are good and one and not so good at the other.

I will go backwards through the posts and answer what I can over the next day or so (sorry, I actually have a day off today, so will not be around much this evening)

But as this has just popped up, i'll answer this now.

We think we've covered all pitch types, also, each end can have different characteristics, so it might be better to bowl a Spinner from a certain end for example.

----------

Just incase someone found that qs confusing (I did when I read it the first few times :P), he is asking if Cricket 14 will show the distance for a 'Six'.

Yes we will have a distance meter.

----------

There were a few questions back through the treads about pace,

in terms of different positions on the crease and speed.

Yes you can change where in the crease you want to deliver, so changing the angle to the batsman will be simple.

Speed of delivery is changed from the standard pace of your bowler by the speed you pull back on the RAS before delivery, pulling back slowly will take pace off the ball, just like in real life you can?t pinpoint the exact speed though and will take practise to get right.

Sounds a little complicated :p.....will need a lot of practice I guess :D!

Thats nice :D!!!! Would be a challenge to play on pitches like the one we saw yesterday in the India vs Srilanka Tri-series final!! Balls keeping low from good length, jumping up from the same length.....using the first person camera, it would be pretty exciting :D!

I like the sound of that Mike! :cheers

Indeed we will need lots of practice.

Awesome buddy, just read & already have imaged that how great the blowing will be :)

I agree!! I really think I would be spending more time bowling than batting in this game :D!!! Bowling sounds super fun really and a challenge to master!

Bowling Speed

---Ross please answer this..at the time of release of the ball from the bowler's hand, will the game slow down a little bit to make the batsman see clearly or will it be normal as in real cricket?
I think this is not asked & also important..
----

I think the above question was in the discussion thread, but thought, i'd keep everything in one place for my answers.

While Playing as the batsman it?ll be real speed, you need to concentrate on the ball to get information about where it will pitch and what line it is on.

Just a quick question. How long did it take for you to get a hang over the pace and spin bowling controls?

Sorry to add to the qs list (I know you are trying to clear out the qs already posted), but the statement above looks pretty close to what happens in real life, however with cricket games on tv, in which you are actually watching a 2D picture, it is pretty difficult to judge where the ball is going to pitch (i.e. length of the ball) as well as the line specially if it is coming at an angle! You have played the game a lot, did you face any such issues? If yes, how did you combat them?

Mike....just to help you out....here is a list of qs collated by Sahilnatu!!!
All the Q's I found. Hope that helps. :)

you need to concentrate on the ball to get information about where it will pitch and what line it is on.

I have an idea now of how you may have implemented this. :D

Length - Release of ball from bowlers arm

Pitch - Angle of bowlers arm

Spin - The seam position is well presented to us on screen, perhaps exaggerated to make it easier for us to judge which way the ball will go.

Just a quick question. How long did it take for you to get a hang over the pace and spin bowling controls?

Hard to say how long - we did test beds, where we just had the bowler and wickets and tested out several options. so it went through a process of small changes and improvements. It's a system that you can pick up an be reasonable in a short amount of time against the easy teams, but there are layers that you need to add to make the grade higher up.

as with Pace, a beginner can use a spin bowler with just pressing A button and flicking the RAS at the right time. you won't spin the ball, but you'll bowl at off stump and depending on the pitch you might get some luck.
