Post your questions about the game here!

Hey Ross, I feel guilty us asking all these questions, so this one is more of a suggestion if its not in the game already (which most things I'm hoping for seem to be already)

I think a lot of us will be creating classic teams, me included, so maybe we should have classic players names available for commentary that are not popular surnames such as, Botham, Bevan, Hadlee, etc. Providing no licenses are breached of course.

If a surname is reasonably common then it will be in the game, if it is unique to a particular Cricketer or a small family it will not.

People have until the 28th to supply their teams - it will be very shortly after that.

Indeed, he won't just not run he will put up his hand and yell - when you cancel a run you also yell.

Thanks for the reply but is the beta only for player creation or even a small match is available like a 5 over match???

Awesome ...:cheers
I just wanted to share a very frustrating thing in the previous cricket games which is that when a player hits a straight drive and goes to the fielder on mid on or mid off ,the non striker is not in the crease and u cant even attempt for a direct hit (I guess that was not supposed to be a runout attempt according to the game )......
Now I want to say:
The non striker should return to the crease or there should be a run out attempt...:cheers

It will be the Cricket Academy for PC only, no gameplay.

Only thing that worries me about this game is wether I will have saved the money up it time to get the first copy off the shelf!
Really looking forward to your game Ross.

You are going very deep with your first cricket game,Excellent Ross, hoping for your success...But for now we have to wait and see which features will remain in the game after "Bug testing"...I hope that all goes well in bug testing :)

Oh yeah...how can we forget that!!! A lot of the said features might disappear during that stage :(

And when does that take place after the game is complete???

Bug testing is part of the development process - they don't make the whole game and then test it out.

Big Ant obviously have a huge head start by being able to use their game engine from their football games as a base here - so the code for a lot of game elements will be refined over what is already released.

Of course we've had cricket games made out of rugby games before - it's not always a good thing - but Big Ant clearly have a degree of dedication and time spent on it that those EA games didn't. BLC 99 after all shared a lot of code with a rugby game yet still turned out well.

I'm sure that just about everything mentioned will be implemented well enough when they confirm the feature it's in for sure - of course the actual end result of something being implemented can vary - some EA titles had rain delays - but it rained all day when it did; Cricket 07 had a behind the batsman camera - but certainly nothing like how well implemented the IC2010 one is.

On paper, Big Ant's game is everything I've wanted - if it plays half as good as it sounds it will be a great game. I hope that it makes a good jump from a features list to a game, but then I remember how excited I was about BLIC2007 before its release.

This is what new developers brings to a game: Fresh ideas. They might not all work, the gameplay might not be good, but in the end they will have a cricket game with new ideas where they can build from for subsequent releases. Also other developers might even implement these ideas in their own game and might even make it more refined. Overall great news for us that somone is trying something different in a cricket game. For too long the same ideas have been used in cricket game and they failed to make it more interesting or last longer in people's mind

You might not get it right this first time, but i have high hope from you guys for the future releases.

I totally agree on that point. There has been way too little innovation in cricket games since Lara 99 came out. Every release seems to be slightly tweaked gameplay and updated rosters and we're told "career mode etc next time".

I'm just hoping if the game is actually any good, that certain demographics actually buy the game rather than resorting to pirating. If it reviews well here, only people voting with their wallets will ensure future games.

With what I've heard regards to rampant pirating in one of the most popular cricketing nations, I can only hope people make informed purchases and help to actually fund future iterations.

Indeed. Me and Kev actually went on the Codies tour for that game, and in the brief time we had with it, it seemed like they have refined the mistakes from 2005 and improved on what was a decent multiplayer game. When actually playing the real thing though, it was highly disappointing and yet another in a long line of poorly executed Codemasters games.
