Licenced or unlicensed, it would be a major turn off if there'd be commentary names for some unknown cricketers with common names and not for some greats like Tendulkar.
I'm saying that from my point of view, the receiver end. It's upto you Ross to do something. I know there can be helpless situations, but then every problem has a solution and its upto you to find one. Coz getting in all those mighty huge and awesome features, while missing out on this thing that even the yesteryear's cricket titles had, seems a bit unreal.

Do you have any contacts in BCCI or the Indian team? I guess Tendulkar's mobile number would be fine for starters :rolleyes

Actually, it looked so to me too. Sorry! :-P
But seriously, was just trying to pour my heart out. When you don't get cricket games very often, you want those few to be just perfect.

Understandable, but you have to accept the legal issues surrounding using real player names.

Yeah know what you mean tbh - we are usually so starved of any games :noway

There won't be a problem with regards to Cricketers and commentary, I am sure you will be able to create whatever you want and get the desired result.

In some circumstances not being bound contractually by a Cricket Board can give you freedom.

Great. I think this indirectly answers all those burning questions about the names of all the international players. People should move on to different questions now. Plus since the editor is releasing in probably 2-3 weeks you will all know whether all the players' names r there.

Moving on, Ross, is there any legal or copyright issue regarding stadiums? Do you need to get the permissions of the boards or anyone else to include real stadiums in the game? And probably you cant answer this now, but how many stadiums in total do you plan to include in the game? A rough estimate maybe...:P

I really do hope that the commentary sounds organic although being scripted. It has been the main problem of past cricket games where the repetition of lifeless phrases becomes a real 'earsore'. I hate to criticise Big Ant as they have been a breath of fresh air on this forum, but the commentary in the Rugby League Live and AFL Live games sound lifeless and dont really add to the feel of the game. Although Rugby League Live 2 was a marked improvement from the previous edition.

Personally, for a cricket game to be truly great, in needs to have gripping gameplay integrated with high-detailed presentation in order to really engage. I I believe the only game that fits this criteria is NBA 2k13. I know its ridiculous to expect the same attention-to-detail in the coming cricket games as is in the NBA 2k series, but i truly hope future editions will strive for similar detail.

I dont see that happening for a cricket game in a long time to come. While reading a rugby league live 2 review recently, the reviewer in the game's defence said big ant probably had as much money to spend on the game that EA uses to keep track of christiano ronaldo's latest hairstyle. Overexaggeration though it might be, it is true that big ant wont have that kind of budget to get the same kind of detail that games like fifa, madden or nba (by 2K) have. But whatever ross has said so far, if implemented correctly then we are in for a treat.

What Ross and his team have shown so far demonstrates what has been lacking in previous cricket games - a bit of love! ;) This sort of interaction between developer and potential customer i believe is unprecedented, and can only mean a game that delivers for all! But of course, proof will be in the pudding. I couldn't agree more with the humorous (:noway) statement outlining Big Ant's budget constraints and as such only so much can be expected.
