AI is easy to get out on any difficulty. All you need is a srt of in-out field and they will hit spinners down the fielders' throat. AI batting needs to be improved at the earliest else offline gameplay will consist of simulating AI innings and trying to chase the AI's score.

Agreed. Approx 80% of my wickets with my spinner are caught at either mid on/off or long on/off. Currently not getting value for money for my wickets, just bowling good deliveries with some variation and wait for the lofted shot, which is frustrating as bowling mechanic is so good

Might start career as batsman on Pro level until patch gets released

Will the pc version be pre patched ? If yes then what will be the improvements ?

I'm more concerned about my pace man getting hit for runs than I am with my career spin bowler.. I have a particular field I love for my pace man that I use against everyone for every situation.. but with my spinner, I don't care.. I let the AI do the thinking for me. Still get on some silly rolls with taking wickets.

You could have a ball with minimal rotation hit a crack and zip off at 45 degrees,

My career player is almost up to the point of pulling off 1,000rpm balls ...

I wish there was a way to see how many games I have played, overs I have bowled etc but I would guess several hundred overs of spin. In that time I have never seen a good , bad or indifferent ball "hit a crack and zip off at 45 degrees" Does such a thing even exist in this game?

...

What is your career player? Exclusively batsmen? Because a part timer throws 1500rpm on his first delivery.

Please note those were the only two things in your helpful reply that I found odd, the rest is great thanks for your time.

This is based off of the bowling help meter - I'd get "Perfect" on the spin and I'd get 300RPM; and then next ball I'd get "Poor" and get 1200+RPM. I need to practice it a little more; but when the aid seems to tell you that you are right and then give you seemingly less spin than a ball ball; then that seems odd...

Yeah you do, that doesnt happen. Follow the advice hit the practice match.
The main thing is to time your rotation to you release at the conclusion of the third circle. (that is if you want maximum spin. Ive never tried Swann but Murali gets about 2400rpm maximum.)

Posted this before in another thread but honest its a game changer...

The bestest thing I have done in this game is to remove mid on/off or long on/off from my custom fields and to never use them at all.

This removes 90% of the AI's stupid dismissals, lofted shots as you say, and suicidal runs.

Once you get rid of those it feels like a different game. Without the multiple wickets from stupidity the AI can amass nice totals, games are much more balanced.

Obviously thats not the ideal solution, a proper patch fix would be better but its good enough for me in the mean time.

Not an ideal solution? Removing mid on and mid off?

They're the first positions I put in when bowling in real life, as you get milked all day if you don't.

So use them in real life? .. whats you point?

Everyone complains that bowling is too easy and that they take 8/10 or that they get 7 run outs per innings and theres no challenge etc etc.

Almost all of those wickets come from mid on /off

So either exploit the AI and get no challenge or dont.

I dont care either way, but there seems little point complaining if you can do something about it. (I dont know if you personally complain, maybe you find it perfectly balanced already)

The point being this is meant to be a cricket game, if you can't use the 2 most important fielders that a spinner has then that's a massive problem for the game's credibility.

I do find a lot of catches at mid on/off but then I do in real life too. I also find far fewer nicks to keeper/slips in the game than real life.

Also never seen a bye/leg bye in my entire time playing the game while I think about it.

All of my spin wickets come from bad balls - that is admittedly because the batsman attacks them and they get caught in the deep, but still!

Interesting. The further on the spin gauge and the more accurate the length increased the RPM for me. In other words the better the input, the more spin for me anyway. Maybe you should video it so we get a better idea? Seems very odd.

ok fine.

personally I would rather have some balance in the actual matches rather than to try and pretend Im actually playing cricket rather than a video game.

With mid on/off in play I can dismiss a T20 side for less than 50 runs every time. Without them they get 100+ and I occasionally lose matches... Im not great at batting ;)

This makes the game fun for me. If you are finding it balanced already, or enjoy playing with no challenge as long as its "realistic" then obviously there is no need for you to make any changes.

Hi all, I'm new here but a big cricket fan and finally got my hands on the DBC14 yesterday (PS3).

I'm loving the career pro mode but I wondered if there was a way to set it to automatically advance/simulate to the next time my player was batting/bowling?

Currently when I finish bowling an over I wait for the other bowler's over to load up, pause the game, choose 'simulate to career player', let my next over load... repeat. Question is whether I can set the game to automatically advance it for me?

I know it's not strictly the point to simulate my non-bowling overs, but for someone who plays in small bursts it would really help not to go through that process after every over I bowl.

I've searched the forums but can't find any obvious threads, so your help would be appreciated!

But for me the experience has been different like getting leading edge when trying to play on the leg side and bottom edge when I bowl a flighted delivery....So for me the experience has been good with the spinner...

For eg : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUKL9iYpE-c

The previous delivery I bowled was a off spinner and the next ball the batsman was playing for the spin but I bowled a doosra....:D

thing for me about bowling is this... i am a career batsman, but i get called on to bowl pretty regularly in list a and t20 (rarely in FC). i bowl medium.

i give it little thought just bowl full and straight, mostly slower balls occasionally other ball types at random, no plan whatsoever. the AI cannot score off me, and i pick up wickets regularly. if i bowled my full allocation in every game (i usually come on between 40-44 overs) we wouldn't lose a single list a game.

as someone said above the bowling mechanic is fun, even challenging, but "bowling" is boring to mind-numbing degree, because there is no element of challenge whatsoever. the AI batting has to be improved immensely - i would say current veteran should be pro, legend, veteran and legend improved too at the very least.

The thing I always notice with bowling is how the AI doesn't really put away the bad balls. They play forward defensives to leg stump half volleys yet try to smash decent line and length balls over the top.
