Pro Evolution Soccer 2009

Yeah PES3 was a pretty different game, I'd say from around PES5/6 things started to get " ........................" if you know what I mean.

Don't agree with that either. PES 2008 was a sham of a game and if it's comparable with PES5/6 then that's not saying much about them. KONAMI didn't change the important things rather making needless tweaks like waiting for the ref to blow the whistle before every freekick (wtf) or the poor ball control, physics, horrible menu, crap music and less flowing game play.

I'd be very happy if PES 2009 was more like PES6 than 2008. However, unlike most members here, I'm gonna play the demo before making a judgement.

Because Fifa 04 was rubbish.

What's the point in overhauling a good game? If you want to play a completely different Pro game, play Fifa.

It was horsepoo though. I can't compare games cross-platform but I can compare 09 to 08 which is what I'll do once I get the full game.

Will_NA added 54 Minutes and 16 Seconds later...

Just played the Demo and have a few things to say:

Pros

Graphics are much improved
Shooting system still means that the ball could go practically anywhere and I really think it could be more difficult to score
The fluidity is there that was missing from 2008
No commentary in the Demo so no Mark Lawrenson
No longer have to wait for the ref's whistle to take free kicks
Scored a 25-yard screamer from Carrick - half volley on the up, hint of bend, bottom right corner.
Much improved menu Mwah!

Cons

The ball physics need to be improved. The ball seems to skid further than it should
Feel they could improve grass physics
Sill a bit fast but I'm sure there will be an option to slow it down in the final version
No Arsenal in the Demo!

'Bout all I can deduce from a 5 minuted demo. Signs are looking good though and this is by no means the final product. A few of these niggles can still be sorted out.

EDIT: Not sure how many times I've posted this...

You may disagree but apart from the usualy tweaks KONAMI do like editing the shooting every year, I remember that was one of the things I used to look forward to; what the shots are like.

Apart from that they havnt really done much from what I have played, I dont think slowing the game down is enough to create a good game anymore. Also the fact that KONAMI say they work towards making the game realistic........that just cant be true. It doesnt have its own style just seems like an arcade game.

I was hoping for the complete overhaul but meh, I'm definatly not ready to throw out £30 on this.

Punk, you talk absolute crap sometimes. No style of its own? What are you talking about.

Just been playing the PC demo for a couple of games, for some reason I enjoyed that more than the PS3 demo. Think I'll get the PC game, seeing as how it'll be £20 or so and easier to get updates etc.

By style I ment it just feels like an arcade game like you dont get a different sense of feeling say when you pass the ball to C.Ronaldo it doesnt feel like

"yes thats Ronaldo I can take some people on or open up a chance".

It just feels like the good players are just faster and have better accuracy than the badder ones, theres no sense of individuality not just the players but the game as a whole. Just feels as if I'm playing PES (PS2 series) with updated graphics.

Sometimes, more like every time.

LOL I'm glad you noticed.

I have to disagree on that respect, give the ball to a player such as Robinho and there is a noticeable difference to Torres in the way R2 affects there play. With Robinho, you can quickly jink the ball around, make nippy one two's with nearby players, whereas using R2 with Torres brings a slower, more precise movement, which seems to create space.

Using that slower, closer technique also works with Ronaldo. If you trap the ball, tap R2 twice, bring the player towards you and pull the direction pad the other way, skillful players will either drop there shoulder, do a fancy flick, or nutmeg.

Well imo the game just felt dead and just seemed as if they slowed the game down to make it how it was befor. The core gameplay just doesnt feel right tbh........not right enough to pay £30 anyway.
