South Africa tour of India 2019/20

Stress fracture for Bumrah. I really hope for the sake of Indian cricket that he doesn't loose anything. People yap on about Kohli but he's the most priceless cricketer in the world at the moment.

Not too bummed by Bumrah's absence. Let him rest. On Indian wickets with the test championship points on the line, I expect turning pitches and I am confident that Ashwin/Jadeja/Kuldeep will be playing prominent roles with the seamers providing backup assistance. Ishant and Shami are more than capable to play in the XI for all games and are the only two seamers needed unless one of them gets injured.

I don't think that the BCCI would be keen on repeating it after the amount of criticism and the backlash they received 4 years ago. And recently the Indian batting being not up to the mark and the form their bowlers are in. I feel this time we would get flat pitches.

The main concern is that Bumrah has suffered a stress fracture, which is the result of a high workload along with the action of a bowler. Cummins and Pattinson are two bowlers who have suffered from stress fractures for years until recently. I hope that the BCCI deals with Bumrah like the CA did with Cummins (subtle changes to his bowling action, proper recovery time) and he gets back to his best soon.

And that is not an easy process. Cummins has gone through a lot.

Open Chested bowler like Shane Bond ,Freddie Flintoff and even the great Dennis Lille suffered similar injury so it was always on the cards that the lower back is gonna take a toll especially with that action. Not sure how the bio mechanics are gonna work in Bumrah's case whether a minor change in action or the runup or whatever which ain't gonna affect his lower back are supposed to tweaked or just nothing at all as an Indian fan I am optimistic that he comes back stronger than ever as he is an absolutely gem for India in all three format.

I have a friend who basically was destined to be an India cricketer, got picked for Bengal at 15 about 18-19 years back, was set to debut in the Ranji trophy at 18 and he had a stress fracture. His rehab was painful to watch and on the brink of come back he had another stress fracture post which the doctor told him he could never play cricket again. Luckily, he was a strong cookie so he made it in life by getting a job in a bank. We don't meet that often, but I still see him once in 2-3 years and inevitably after a couple of pints he and I wonder what could have been. He used to bowl 135kph outs wingers at that age and was a number 3. In my heart, I believe he was destined for the India jersey.

Basically, these two words really scare me. I hope for India's sake the rehab for JB is hawk eye monitored. As I keep saying, he, not Kohli is our biggest asset.

So Rohit Sharma is out for a duck in the Warm-up match which was as expected as he was opening the batting. And BCCI had said earlier that he would open against Rabada and Ngidi. :lol

I think the same. Virat Kohli might have been a very good batsman and probably the best in the world but India is already blessed with a lot of batsman in the past and they would keep getting the same quality in the years to come in this department but for a Country like India who have been known as a side which is good on batting but average while bowling and suddenly to get a bowler like Bumrah is a big asset and we won't get a bowler like him that easily. If we lose him it would be an enormous loss which the Indian side will fail to sustain.

I think it's about time Panchal gets the cap and open alongside Agarwal instead of Rohit. Let Rohit focus on T20s as he hasn't been good in this format in recent times.

Ravi Shastri, the India coach, has all but confirmed that Bhuvneshwar is only an ODI option going forward. Speaking to Hindustan Times on the problem of plenty in the pace department, he said, "There is Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Ishant Sharma. How you look after each one of them is very important. Then we have Umesh Yadav, and Navdeep Saini is in the line for Tests. As far as white-ball cricket is concerned, you have Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Khaleel Ahmed in the wings. You got Deepak Chahar who has done so well."

Bhuvi’s average in tests : 26
Bhuvi’s average in ODIs : 34 (was closer to 40 a year ago)

And I haven’t mentioned how useful he has been with the bat down the order overseas. How on earth does Saini leapfrog him for tests, let alone Umesh?

Sometimes, I feel like Shami and Bhuvi have been played heavily in the wrong formats.

Can you explain how for Shami? I can understand the case with Bhuvi because of his ability to swing the red ball and batting down the order.

I don't believe on the thing in the quote that you had mentioned in this post (don't know for some reason it's not been displayed here)

The news is saying something else while the words used are something else. Few media just do this to just attract peoples attention towards their news. Anyways the source mentioned is HT so not a very reliable source you would say. If this has to be true then I don't think we have a national team that exists anymore and it's rather a club team that somehow got genuine quality players and is playing at International level.

Kuldeep Yadav went from being our number 1 spinner to being dropped. :lol

Rishabh Pant's confidence must be sky high after being dropped after two bad tests. :thumbs
