They had a pretty competitive side in 90's. Akram,Waqar,Saqlain,Akhtar,Moin,Anwar,Yusuf. They were way better than Indian team of 90's.

Inzamam.

But even then, they were aptly described as "skilled rabble". A very good group of players, but they relied on their abilities rather than the percentages.

OMG Razzaq!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What an innings, screw Hafeez and Misbah, they were batting so slow that I turned my tv off and missed this great knock

Seen Razzaq play alot of innings like that in the past, but this one was something special.

Boy i tell ya if Pakistan get those suspended players back, they to me will be Australia's biggest obstacle in winnings 4 WC in a row.

I don't understand why Asad Shafiq is opening. He is better in the middle order. It would be better for Younis Khan to open, since he is already on the pitch after a few overs.

Fawad Alam could take the number 3 spot, because he provide consistency.

I don't think those three are coming back. I will also not include Moyo in our ODI team. He is not fit enough and is a liability on the field. Pakistan will have to do without the above four.

Asad Shafiq is opening because we do not have an opener. Imran Farhat has been selected (nepotism) and has proved his worthlessness in the two T20s. Also Younis has looked superb at three and he must be allowed to stay at his favorite position. Fawad Alam will play as we do not have any options. Asad Shafique is a much better player. He is better suited to bat in the middle, more so than Alam. If it was up to me, I would make fawad open and play Shafique in the middle.

I'm not sure about consistency but the best place for him would be at 3, he takes a few balls to get his eye in and then he isn't much of a slogger to be coming down the order at 5-6.

Pitch doesn't seem the best batting pitch. Only amla really showed any fluency, another great knock.

What was the third umpire doing giving AB out?? That isn't even close. I can understand umpires making mistakes on the field since that's a split second call but how after watching 5 replays can you get that wrong??

South Africa are probably home and hosed, but some (unlikely) consistent scores from Pakistan would wear the target down. Although Amla was brilliant, he got little support and it is an inroad for Pakistan to get somewhere with less impressive individual performances.

Asad Shafiq is batting a position I would like him to play. Too bad Younis Khan is out already. He would have made this chase a lot easier. The target is 229 and Pakistan needs 109 runs from 17 overs. Pakistan is in a way better position then I would have expected. I see the Test captain Misbah-ul-Haq isn't even playing.

And playing in UAE seems to be really tough. Asad Shafiq also got cramps.

Razzaq just got out. I don't understand why they were leaving it that late. Just hit a boundary in each over after the 35th over and that would have eased the pressure. Instead Pakistan tried to get only singles all the time.

Alam has shown he has hitting skills, but I don't expect anything from him or Haider at the moment. Especially since the required rate is now at 9.

Get out of there you hack! I don't understand the logic behind playing Fawad Alam so low. If they're going to insist on it they need to put him through a weight intensive program so he can actually, at the very least, clear the in field. He doesn't come across as a player who makes his own luck. He's a grafter.

edit: nvm. I don't know what it is with him though. He gets bogged down very easily and it's very easy to make him to into his shell.

South Africa won the match, but what a great match and chase it was.

South Africa's misfielding gave Pakistan every chance to win it, but Pakistan didn't take their chances.
