South Africa vs Zimbabwe & Pakistan, October-November 2010/11

Lol, 399 runs and 400 to win :p

They will get that 20 runs :)

Much better bowling performance by us today. Also good see JP getting some runs even if its only zim.

SA could have been the first team in history to cross the 400 barrier three times. Certainly shows once the mark gets broken the flood gate opens although haven't seen it for the 200.

I'm not sure if 3 times in 4 years would be a lot considering 2 of those would be against Zimbabwe. These sorts of teams are getting more and more exposure, getting more chances to play against top teams than they did 10 years ago, so of course they're going to cop more pastings.

That said, it's actually South Africa who are the only side to have 400 scored against them twice.

I just took another look at the teams that have passed 400, India have actually done it 3 times already two against decent oppositions too. Each of the teams that have crossed the mark apart from NZ have done it at least once against a decent team. It's just crazy how many times it has been cracked since 2006, we spent years and years trying to crack it with the closest being NZ in 05 before that no team was even near 400 since SL got close in 96.

So India has done it thrice(twice against decent oppositions).
Srilanka has done it twice(once against decent oppositions)
and South Africa has also done it twice(once against decent opposition).

That feels good and the match of South Africa-Australia and India-Srilanka and India-South Africa are some of my personal favourites.

Today is the first T20 between two very good teams but there is no excitement in the air. Understandably so :noway

If there is no excitement why are people following it in the stadium? Five minutes to go before the match starts.

This are the teams:

Pakistan team
Imran Farhat, Shahzaib Hasan, Mohammad Hafeez, Umar Akmal, Misbah-ul-Haq, Shahid Afridi*, Abdul Razzaq, Zulqarnain Haider†, Umar Gul, Saeed Ajmal, Shoaib Akhtar

South Africa team
GC Smith, LL Bosman, AB de Villiers†, JP Duminy, CA Ingram, DA Miller, JA Morkel, J Botha*, M Morkel, J Theron, LL Tsotsobe

Abdul Razzaq had a great Twenty20 tournament. It's the same for Shahzaib Hasan and Wahab Riaz. Wahab Riaz is actually not playing in this match.

Theron gets another chance, because Steyn is still not fit. Kallis isn't playing as well, but I was thinking South Africa wouldn't risk him for the Twenty20's.

Pakistan only scored 119 runs. But South Africa are now at 16-2 after 2.3 overs. So we've got a match now.

From the Cricinfo preview I already could understand that this will be a low scoring match.

It's 26-3 and Pakistan are really coming back. I still favour South Africa to win.

There is actually a guy dancing as a cheerleader.

Duminy just went out, but South Africa only needs 28 runs from 25 balls. So they should reach it. Personally I find they should have reached that target by now.

Eventually South Africa won the match. From the look of it the upcoming matches will be lowscoring matches.

Comfortable win for SA. Yeah had an early scare with smith and ab failing but ingram and duminy were never in any real trouble. Always had the rate in control and knew they had hitters like miller and a.morkel to come.

The bowling apart from the morkel brothers wides and no balls were very good.
