South Africa's tour of Bangladesh - July/August 2015

Calling it now - BD will make it to the finals of WT20 2016. Might even win it

I think its safe to say B'desh have finally arrived. Took a long while but welcome.

As for SA, they are to tour India later in the year and to be fair they have not looked very clever on the sub-continent wickets so far, though of course ABD and Steyn are not part of the touring side.

I think Ind will fancy themselves in the SA series.

They have back from a long break as well. Doudt they will play as badly in india as they have done on this tour, have a good record in india.

Well done to bangladesh. Maybe now sides will start taking them seriously instead of resting key players...

Well, that backfired...

Well he didn't play so he didn't waste any balls..Should have been playing and ab should have batting as well but guess pakistan's and india's defeats weren't enough evidence for us to take bangladesh seriously..

There's just nothing left for Steyn to prove by playing a bilateral series against Bangladesh. I don't see anything wrong with him missing the series - it's not like he's off playing in the CPL right now. While it may be funny to make jokes at Steyn's expense, the fact of the matter is that SA still had a far better team on paper but were humiliated in the last two ODIs. At least now, both teams will have something to play for in the Test series.

Just seen Mustafizur, run through SA with a triple wicket maiden. SA 173/6 and reeling after a good start. The guy gets some serious movement off the pitch. Would like to see him play in Eng, could be a great viewing experience.

Not a very good performance. Need to get their act together, the rustyness excuse will not fly.

What the hell is wrong with Steyns hair?

Okay an update:

We are playing like grade 3s.
Steyn bowling off cutters and easy balls on the pads while Bavuma is flipping kicking the ball around like its the AFCON qualifiers or something. Honestly right now we are playing like we would struggle to beat Zimbabwe's bowling and England's batting...

not a chance, if anything, T20 is bangladesh's worst format, obviously they've had absymal results in tests and some decent ones in T20 but that's down to the nature of the two formats where tests will punish any sort of disparity in the sides over the two days whereas 3 decent overs can win you a T20 match. they fell away horribley last year but prior to that there were signs that bangladesh were beginning to get their act together in tests. they'll likely go the sri lanka route though where by the end of the decade they're quite tough at home and still fairly frail away (bearing in mind sri lanka were massivley boosted by having probably the best, or lets say effective to avoid arguments, test cricketer of his era in their side).

Lets see :)

Its being played in India, so familiar conditions. And they seem to have found a couple of bowlers who are going to be chipping away with wickets in these conditions. Taking wickets can very easily break the batting team's backbone in a T20 game. On top of that, they still seem to be associated with the "underdog" tag by a fairly large section of people - that might just egg them on even more.

Only thing that can bring them down is the sub-continental fan culture. The immense pressure. But they seem to have done well this year despite that

Let's not talk about their fans, please. It really makes me cringe.

As for the team? I think, in limited overs, they are a force in the sub continent. A force, that can't be taken lightly. At this present moment, that's all that can be said of them. There are a bunch of people that are playing very poor cricket at the moment. India is probably top of the tree at the moment when it comes to that. Bangladesh have an absolute superstar in Soumya Sarkar in the making, but I've seen the likes of Ashraful and co allow that to get to them. Mustafizur Rehman is good, I'm intrigued to see how he goes in alien conditions.

For me, personally, I judge teams on big ticket tournaments. India seem to rise when they come about. So until Bangladesh do something remarkable like the 2015 WC consistently, I won't say that they have arrived. They have improved though.

And there's nothing wrong in what Steyn said. These ODI's are meaningless matches. It is for this reason that cricket needs a significant overhaul. But, we're never getting anywhere with that.
