Yes Prieto has been fantastic for Sociedad but he is 28 and on the right their are other younger players available for Del Bosque like Navas, Cazorla, Iniesta and Mata. Silva can also play right if required.

Yeah, it's strange. Spain don't nominally play with a lot of width but they have so many quality options out wide, that Pedro kid ain't half bad either!

Pedro is only out because of injury.

Spain play width but play it smart and when it is required. Not just bombaring down the flanks and putting in crosses into the box, for which there is already the full backs Ramos and Capdevila who do a fantastic job. But the WC winning goal originated from Navas' run down the right. Silva keeps dropping to the left to add width when the midfield game is unable to find a way though. Thats the good thing about Spain - dynamic play. Although I do think the passing needs to be worked on, and players should be encouraged to take calculated risks with their shots.

Also I think Del Bosque needs to make it clear to Torres though that he has to perform to keep his place. Negredo's performances certainly merit a call up to the national side and Del Bosque knows that.

Barcelona to slip up this weekend away at Villarreal? No Messi, CL match coming up and most of their players played for Spain in the past week. It certainly looks like a possibility.

Never mind , Madrid have still got a lot of tough matches ahead , good enough to drop eight or more points ;)

True especially when you look at their remaining away games but this weekend is certainly a chance for them.

Ummm....We don't have Ronaldo and Benzema, Higuain has just come back from injury. And we had more players involved in internationals and in the Spain-Lithuania game alone (on a dodgy pitch) there were five Real Madrid players on the field compared to just three from Barcelona.

But yeah Barca have won just 5 out of the 13 previous games immediately following international football, while we have won 13/13.

Excuse my lack of knowledge on the la liga title race but hows the table stand right now with madrid and barca?

Right after the India vs Sri Lanka match I followed Real Madrid vs Gijon. The match looked dead, till Gijon scored the goal in 79th minute. The following was a massive attack on the Gijon attack. Eventually Gijon held on and also broke Mourinho's undefeated streak that lasted for about 7 or 8 years.

If Barcelona wins today and in upcoming weeks against Real Madrid the title will be decided.

Wow! Mourinho's long nine-year unbeaten home league record came to an end against of all teams, Sporting Gijon! How Madrid did not score from some of those chances in the last 10 minutes was just crazy.

Truly unbelievable stuff from Gijon to see off madrid at the Bernabeu . Now , its firmly Barca's title to lose .

Barcelona just won against Villarreal by 0-1.

I just missed it, but I heard the commentator saying that Busquets and Valdez got intentional yellow cards so they knew for sure they would play against Real Madrid.
