First defeat of the season, and well deserved one that too. Full credit to Espanyol for taking advantage, and Tamudo's chip was just class!

marcelo is not the man to have in away game against a quality side like espanyol. although our best option, heinze, was unavailable, i'd reckon drenthe would do a better job defending than marcelo, who at times was nowhere to be seen in the madrid half.

luckily though, barca lost as well...so we hold on to top spot, level on points with the yellow submarines.

Cannavaro and Pepe are not available for tonight's game which means, once again, Ramos will have to play center. (thereby reducing our chances from the right flank)

I do hope that Schuster plays Torres on the right then instead of the now useless Salgado.

And here is to hoping that Sneijder scores from a freekick!

FIVE-ONE!!!!

Completely demolished Valencia in the first half...........awesome stuff. Actually feel sorry for them, cuz they are a quality side!

They havent been too quality recently. David Villa and Silva alone are good enough to get them a decent position in the league though. If Valencia dissapoint, what are the chances of Silva moving to one of the top sides ? He looks a real talent.

Great win by real madrid last night, every member of the team looked good. Robinho seems to be turning into a quality player and well done A.madrid who got a cracking win last night too. Lets hope that Barca lose :)

Not the best performance, but playing in Bilbao isnt really very easy. In the end the difference between the two teams was a moment of brilliance provided by Ruud Van Nistelrooy (never mind the error in defence).

Shame on the basque fans for bombarding the pitch with objects. Casillas really had to go through a lot, and I would like the RFEF to take action. Seven points clear. If only Depor can do a miracle at the Camp Nou, this weekend will be perfect.

hey what`s this?

you smell.

Normally I watch Madrid Barca games but I missed tonights and the start of top gear, doesn't look like I missed much anyway but Madrid seem to have the edge on them. No Messi Messi rudeboi anyway for Barca and their a different side without him.

Not a very good performance last night, but then its always important you get the results, even when you arent quite playing your best game. guti definately had a better impact on the game than sneijder. the latter was almost invisible to be honest.

I think Schuster needs to play one between Sneijder and Guti according to the situation and the opposition. Against the better sides like Villarreal, Barcelona and Sevilla, its important he plays Sneijder because in close games, he could be the one making the difference. Guti, on the other hand, is more of a team player, and is especially good with his passing and the ability to pick out one of the forwards. I think Guti has the highest percentage of assists for us this season.

Casillas is the best keeper in the world! His performance last night was yet another example why. Its been 6 games since we last conceded a goal, and that for us a fantastic achievement!

Good game though, especially the first half, with a lot of chances. The difference being, we took ours, and they missed.....or rather Casillas stopped them!

Good to see Drenthe get a few minutes, as I really want him to stay.

Yeh Casillas is immense at the minute, crucial stage of the title race now to see if Barca survive without Eto'o because Henrys really not fit enough to play regularly and Madrid could take their lead to an impossible position.

Terrific game this weekend, and I think we were slightly the better team to deserve the win in the end. Great to see Sneijder scoring as well as he has really been unlucky despite playing so well. Guti's ball for Robinho's first goal was just brilliant!!

And the victory tasted even sweeter with Barca only managing a draw against struggling Bilbao. Although with Messi back now, it should be a lot better for them.

Also we've beaten our three main title contenders this season - Barcelona Away, Villarreal Home and Away, Atletico Madrid Home and Away.

Guti FTW, he's a legend whether he plays well or not, big fan of him. Madrid have got the titled wrapped up though i expect. I cant see Barca making the points up, they've not looked the same team as they did 2-3 years ago, the lack of Ronaldinho's brilliance is really showing. You're right about Messi though, he'll be a real boost for them, definetly one of the best players in the world, 3rd to Ronaldo and Kaka.
