Sri Lanka tour of New Zealand

Although let's not forget what happend when Sri Lanka were in a very similar situation against England. They have that ability to suddenly all click and pile on the runs.

Oram now cleaning up the tail looks like the same old story sadly, a visiting team comes to NZ and the NZ bowlers take them apart.

SL all out before tea at 154, Jayawardene has done a Nasser Hussain!

Cumming off to a very shaky start indeed

and obviously Jamie Howe off to a shaky start, but he wont be be able to reedeem himself cuz hes back in the sheds

Well i have to swallow my pride and admit a mistake, i would not have selected Franklin to play on recent form. But boy has he come right and how..the conditions are right up his alley and he is such a confidence bowler.

I would have. He had a great year last year. He was certain for me.

Just posting from polytech, have my last class right now, so the timing wasn't bad, saw the whole innings.

That is the best I have seen our test team bowl! FANTASTIC line and length. We beat the bat soo many times. They were lucky to get to 150.

Shane Bond, he is just the best. he got the Sri Lankan big 3 out. 3 of their top 4. Fantastic bowler.

The others did a great job to clean them up.

I really don't believe the pitch is as bad for batting as Sri Lanka have made it look. Sure, there has been assistance, but it's good bowling more then the pitch in my opinion.

Look at the Sri Lankan batters after the top 4. Pretty weak to be honest. No offence. Too much inexperiance. Once Bond had ripped through 3 of them they were in strife.

Franklin bowled very well and Martin even better and deserved more then the 2 wickets. I have never seen such a tidy pace bowling performance from us. Not used to it either after watching England lol.

Now we will have to bat today and tomorrow it should be better (if we get any play)

The crowd is pathetic but it's a thursday work day.

I hope our batting is good.

Malinga got How but none of the carnage that we saw from Bond. Cumming settling in well as is Sinclair.

63/1 isn't bad. Whats wrong with the pitch?

Fantastic to see Sinclair performing. I like him.

As I said above its the usual story when visiting teams come over to NZ. Even India with all their great batters were no match over here. Only the Aussies have had any success over here really.

The curator said the pitch will offer assistance to the bowlers early on but will get flatter as the match goes on so definitely a strange decision.

Ah the NZ drop-in pitch lol. I reckon new zealand will get 250-300 and Sri lanka will be able to get big score in second.

Those stats on Muralis wicket taking hauls for Sri Lanka were simply stunning.

10 wicket hauls in his last 4 tests.

Murali is a champion, just a shame his action is always brought into it.

On another note, i'm delighted to finally see Shane Bond live here in the UK. It seems everytime Sky broadcast a NZ series he gets injured. He hasn't disapointed me so far.

It seems New Zealand have got their two form batsman in, so 250 should be no problem.

Bond had the spell of his life earlier on, i never use to class him up there with the Harmisons, Lees and Akhtars(Cheating aside) but today he showed he can bowl with pace and take wickets!

Murali is a person i hold highly due to him being a spinner, and i find it horrid to hear when someone brings into question his technique. ICC laws say that a bowler can have thier arm at a 15 degree straightning, and murali is somthing like a 7 degree, i was reading on some website today:)

Murali is an amazing bowler, with a unique bowling technique, i can speak any higher than i already do, i hold Warne and Muralia as the best bowlers in the world, and unless Panesar can take some amazing wickets, im sure he wont be up there :) But im sure he will creep in the more Fletch see's what a mistake he's making, anyways this isnt the thread for it.

Strange considering Bonds career stats are far in advance of Harmison, Lee and pretty much alongside, although slightly better than, Akhtars.

Fair enough has hasn't played anywhere near the amount of cricket he should have, but he's always been a better bowler than Lee and Harmison.

Edit: What about these two MUFC  :what

Thing is ive not seen much of him, i didnt have Sky for a long time, and obviously reading about it isnt the same as watching Live, but now ive seen him, i rate him quite well.

:) like i said, i hadnt seen much of him upto today, but he really impressed me with his spell!
