Sri Lanka tour of New Zealand

The 2nd dropped catch was a poor excution of the pull shot, deserved to be out but luck favoured him and that really helped NZ get home. Just saw the scorecard Cumming got 43 in both inns :) How probably needs to be replaced and Fleming needs to find some form cause NZ's middle order is looking shakey.

You mean no-ball.

Cumming caught twice off no-balls, a bit of luck there!

And 3 in the match all up. 1 in the first innings as well. More then a bit of luck ;)

I would back NZ to keep the same side for the next match. Eventually How needs to be replaced by Papps (who has just come back from injury so probably won't be used). Cumming did his job, no matter how many outs off noballs he got, he ended up with the second monst runs in the match. He will do the trick for now.

Oops my bad :)

One in the first inns too geez SL must really like their chances of getting him out as you wouldn't want to do that to a Fleming or a Vettori.

I would bring in Ross Taylor to replace someone don't know who but I reckon he should be in there somewhere.

Jayawardene says wicketkeeper Sangakkara was faced with the same situation during the ICC Champions Trophy.

He says Sangakkara called Nathan Astle back when he left his crease.

Ummmm, can anyone find that in the commentary?

I couldn't. And I don't remember that ever happening. So why is this BS being spoken? Get the hell over it.

The only thing which is not in the spirit of the game are sore losers. End of rant.

Why is this coming out all of a sudden from nowhere.... Champions Trophy have finished a long time back... why suddenly Jayawardena wanted to say this?

Hopefully its the end of the issue. This was probably the weirdest game of cricket I have ever seen. Everything happened.

Sorry, some of those comments on cricinfo and the article really made me annoyed. People calling the NZ team bad sports and blaming Fleming. Absolutly ridiculous.

Well we all know how long it took the kiwis to get over the underarm incident in the worldseries game in the early 80s. Actually people still tlk about how the aussies were unsportsmanlike even though it was completely within the rules at that time. Theres always 2 sides to an argument.

Fair call. I don't think it was bad sportmanship myself (talking about the underarm thing) it was just a case of the bowler being a wimp with no self belief. He obviously knew the ball was going to be hit for six. If he thought he could bowl a decent ball, he would of taken the challenge. It's in the past and I couldn't care less about it really.

Fleming summed it up best when he said that if Martin had of thrown the ball over McCullums head, they would of run an overthrow. No doubt about it. So are overthrows considered bad sportsmanship as well? All that is is punishing a fielders mistake, this is punishing a batsmans mistake.

And besides. Bond was just going to knock Murilis stump out of the ground in one of the 5 balls afterwald anyway. it didn't cost SL any runs.

Nothing NZ could have done if they had lost the match cause that partnership got another 50-100 runs then the NZ public would be asking why McCullum didn't run him out. It's a lose lose for the Kiwis.

The umpire shouldn't have walked in like he did as that probably confused Murali slightly.

Exactly aussie.

I was listening to the Veitch interviews on xtra and thats exactly what McCullum and Snedden were on about (the lose lose for kiwis thing, when we lose the media gets up them and now that they're winning they're finding other things). Apparantly one of the papers called McCullum a disgrace or something which I found to be unjustified.

I read an article that Fleming should have taken the flak not McCullum, McCullum isn't the captain so if he didn't remove the bails then Fleming would have been blasting him about that. It's Fleming's call he could have called the batsmen back he didn't it's in the rules, it may have been bad sportsmanship but I'm sure SL would have done the same thing if they were in that situation.
