Imo T20 cricket should only be played at domestic level. Maybe play one T20I as a warm-up to an ODI series, but for example three in the upcoming South African tour of New Zealand is overkill. They're just a flip of the coin, so I don't see the point in a World Cup for it.
Anyway, for New Zealand Ronnie Hira should be there. He's been the best bowler so far in the HRV Cup this season, with eight wickets at 16 and an E/R of 5.95. He's also a useless lower order batsman, and he's a great fielder. So he's effectively the perfect player for Sri Lankan conditions.
Out of the 15 man squad that went to Zimbabwe for the limited overs series' in October, I'd bring in Southee for Aldridge, Hira for Williamson, and McGlashan for Watling.
So my team would be:
McCullum, B +
Guptill
Ryder
Taylor *
Nicol ^
Franklin ^
McCullum, N ^
Bracewell ^
Hira ^
Mills ^
Southee ^
McGlashan
McKay
Oram
Woodcock
That squad could probably actually do with another batsmen for either McKay or Oram. I can't think of anyone atm, so I'll just leave it as that.
