Tamil Music/Movie Thread

'Maan Karate' trailer is like Ethir Neechal Part-2. Even the songs are very mediocre/average. Indha padam oothina nalla irukum (so that these guys do something different). Anirudh's time is getting over as he is churning out average albums (like VIP, Maan Karate).

VIP is addictive after repeated hearings(like Ethir Neechal which was not that good at first, then the songs were cool to hear after some time.) I think you're busy enough hearing the songs of Kochadaiyaan, so it wouldn't do the magic for you. :p

Haven't heard the Kochadaiyaan songs yet. How much does the album costs? :D

Nimurnthu Nil - Boring movie.

Yeah boring screenplay but strong dialogues is what I heard.

Don't forget. His next project is with AR Murugadoss starring Vijay and Samantha.

Looks like Ethir Neechal.

I read Sai's post before I checked out the trailer and thought maybe he was being over dramatic, but no... this plot screams Ethir Neechal 2.

The animation work is very shoddy, I wasn't exactly expecting a technological masterpiece given it's a Tamil film working a very small budget in terms of what's customary in Hollywood, but the eyes across every shot just screams lazy animation work, I'll check it out anyway given it's Rajinikanth and this is supposed to be a prequel to Rana.

I saw this trailer 5-7 years ago. So they had some working in it and it got shelved. Then they started Rana. If Kochadaiyaan is successful, I sight a sequel coming up as Rana.

K.S. Ravikumar himself I believe has said that Kochadaiyaan is very much a prequel to Rana and that he plans on making Rana after this releases, but this was almost 2 years ago around the time when Rajini got quite sick, so who knows, plans might've changed.

Kochadaiiyaan is a great album (don't know how much it costs in India; I bought it in iTunes USA for $8 or so). Its one of the best commercial albums from Rahman in recent times, dare I say close to the very best. It has everything for everybody, and yet the Rahman stamp sees through. But as far as Anirudh goes, I am not speaking out of bias. I enjoyed Anirudh's work in 3 and Ethir Neechal (Ethir Neechal was first love for me). But as with time, his quality is steadily decreasing. Re-uses the same tunes and makes it so blatantly obvious. And added to it, he takes up too many films within a short span, unlike Harris Jayaraj who also recycles tunes but he signs up films smartly.

To me, I like the songs of Naan Sigappu Manithan (GV Prakash) more than Maan Karate. Naan Sigappu Manithan has pretty good songs (though there is one "Yathe Yathe' re-use in there too).

I am actually worried that Anirudh might mess up Vijay's film. But I have a feeling that working with someone like AR Murugadoss (as director) and Vijay as hero will mean Anirudh is kept on a leash. I have begun to find his voice monotonous, and he sings almost every song in his films. his usage of singers should be good in Vijay-ARM film since they will definitely have a say.

I don't know how ARR is much productive. In recent times, he has produced great albums Kadal, Maryan and Kochadaiyaan. Enthiran was not great, it was a workaday album. Anirudh needs a break and break-up for an album to be on '3' standards. :p

I actually like Maan Karate songs more on repeated hearings than 'VIP'. But still, I maintain that it pales in comparison to Ethir Neechal (as is the case with VIP vs. '3'). Ethir Neechal had 3 songs that were instant chartbusters (the title song, Un Paarvayil and Local Boys). In Maan Karate, the only song that I liked in first hearing was 'Darling Dambakku' but that too kinda OK.

On another note, the songs of 'Vaai Moodi Pesavum' (new MD Sean Rolden) are pretty good. The director is Balaji Mohan (of Kadhalil Sodhapuvadhu Eppadi fame). Should be a nice film! Nazriya is the heroine (Yaay!). :D

Maan Karate songs are impressive, yeah..

Maan Karathe - Excellent Movie

full of fun & entertaining :D

Really? I am not hearing good things about the film. :noway I know its a hit (it has the Murugadoss factor, Sivakarthikeyan has built up a decent family audience base, Anirudh music, etc) but the reviews are very scathing.
