Tamil Music/Movie Thread

"Naan Sigappu Manidhan (2014)" - Excellent first half, a dampener of a second half, but still, had enough moments to keep me glued. Vishal was excellent as the guy battling Narcolepsy. Vishal has done two good movies in a row (Pandiya Naadu and Naan Sigappu Manidhan). For him, the dark story based action thrillers seem to work. Lakshmi Menon was OK, the main villian (won't let out the suspense) was ordinary and didn't do great in the acting stakes. Songs were very good by GV Prakash, but such blatant lift of "Dark Knight Rises" background score?? Awful.... The director (Thiru) did Samar with Vishal which was a decent film too.

3.5/5

Hey people, i am directing and acting in a tamil horror short film which is set for a mid June release. Its called Avana Adhuva?

Here is the movie poster:

Really liked 'Kochadaiiyaan'. And contrary to what people say, I actually liked the visuals more than the content of the film. The content was a typical revenge story, but what stood out was the attempt to show it in motion capture photo realistic animation. The work on Kochadaiiyaan (the father character) was particularly very good. That effort was not visible on the son character (Rana) but still for the limited budget and time involved, the effort showed through (the pre and post-movie making showed the effort and we were able to appreciate it). Rahman was a major pillar with his music, and Rajni did his usual great job.

4/5

Watched Kochadaiiyaan a week back. The 3D effects were brilliant in a few scenes, the non flesh and blood look, which in other words called animation was a resemblance to Price of Persia game. Overall brilliant music and BGM. Liked the movie, surely watchable once, 3.5/5 is my verdict. Even as an animation Deepika was hot, also Shobana was cute :)

The best part for me was the legendry comedian Nagesh, i have seen Nagesh in big screen only in Minnale and i am a big fan of his comedies, watched black and white movies for Nagesh sir alone, it was so great to see his animation on the screen, hats off director for that alone! :thumbs

Excellent first look motion poster of Vijay's "Kaththi".

The BGM is very catchy and cool. And from the poster, it looks like action packed film with a strong focus on the storyline, which is refreshing especially for Vijay films. Vijay films have mostly been about Vijay and his hero worship. This one (just like Thuppakki) should be good.

Interesting, I always thought a sequel to Thuppakki was the rumored AR Murgadoss/Vijay film, so I find this to be a curve ball, and reading the Wiki it apparently involves Vijay playing dual roles, and we all know how that turned out the last time... nonetheless, I'll keep an eye out for it.

Velai Illa Pattadhaari (VIP) - Official Trailer

Really enjoyed the trailer, hopefully this is the film that gets me back into the Tamil film fold, do you know when it's rumored to be coming out?

I thought ATM (Vijay's dual role film) was good in parts, but it lacked a strong director to give the film that grip. The storyline was good, the songs were very good, Vijay did a decent job in both roles. But the film communicated the feeling that its being directed by a newcomer.

Hopefully with Murugadoss, that should be taken care of.

Vijay s best move till now is naanban " thaliva your great ""

Disagree! Even if Nanban was an original film, it would not be on par with his efforts in Ghilli or Thuppakki or Kadhaluku Mariyadhai. Even Kushi and Priyamanavale were better than Nanban.
