Sunday 12th November

New South Wales vs. England

...Hello and welcome to Hornet Sports. Today, we will be showing England play New South Wales, and i can tell you now that Andrew Strauss won the toss and has elected to bat first...

Here are the teams that were announced at the toss:

...The action is about to start, and looking at the pitch, it looks dusty and could be slow and low, it may also spin a lot as it wears. It is a good toss to win, and Andrew Strauss will want the England batsmen to preform after the last game, when the track is best...

...The action has started and England have started brightly and are going at a good pace with Cook and Strauss...

... Cook has gone and has been caught off the bowling of Lee. After a bright start, he will be annoyed after getting in and on 25 off 24 balls...

...Now Collingwood is gone, first ball! This after being caught off Lee...

...There has been a good partnership between Strauss and Pietersen and they are playing very well. Oh no, now Strauss is gone after looking so good on 40 off 40 balls. This is typical England, losing 1 then losing another two in quite quick succession.

...Pietersen and Bopara have played well but now Bopara has gone and is another victim of Lee's, cleaned up by him. Flintoff also gets bowled by Lee and England are in dire straights.

Lee has bowled quite well, but he will bowl better than this and get no wickets, the England players have got after him, but then got themselves out to him. Lee has bowled quickly though and he will be pleased with his spell.

...Read has also gone just before lunch, edging behind off the spinner, the pressure really is on him to make a score...

England have played very poorly in this session, even though they have scored at a quick rate. The two positives they will take out of it though, is that quite a few of the players at least got starts, and also the pitch was slow and many of the players never felt in whatever score they were on.

Join us later for the Afternoon session...
Thank you very much for all the comments and keep posting them please. Also, comment on any improvements I could be making as I always like to be making my story better. The next update will be in the next two days, hope they are not coming too slowly, they will not be slow as it comes to the Christmas holidays!

...Welcome back to the Afternoon session, england will be hoping that Pietersen can extend their lead above 220, and this will give them a real chance of bowling New South Wales out cheaply...

...Sajid Mahmood has just been run out trying to get Pietersen to his 50. Pietersen does look strangely nervous trying to bring up this landmark. He was in-decisive when calling the run and Saj was out of his ground...

...The Pietersen 50 is finally up, it took him a while to get there off the spinners, who are doing a good containing job. Now Pietersen has to push on...

pietersen50rg6.jpg

...Hoggard is being defiant at the other end to Pietersen, and looks determined to stay in. However, Pietersen is struggling to score off the spinners and something looks like it may happen...

...The long and boring vigil from Hoggard is now over, that brought only one run but Pietersen looks good on 66...

...Now Pietersen has gone, another run out, trying to put some pressure back on the spinners, he did play very well though and was England's only batsmen to really shine in this innings. It was not a usual innings from Pietersen with his 67 runs coming off 141 balls...

...England are all out for 187, the tail did not wag, but will still be confident that they can restrict New South Wales for less than that...

...Now to the start of the New South Wales innings. They only have 5 overs to face before tea, but his could be a very testing time for the batsmen...

...Both batsmen have survived, but Katich did not look too good out there. On the other hand, Jaques looked very good playing two exquisite back foot drives...

...Hello and welcome to Hornet Sports for the second day of this warm-up match...

...England will be hoping that New South Wales do not get too much of a lead and they will be hoping to restrict them for under 350. The pitch has really flattened out overnight so NSW will be hoping for a very big lead indeed...

...The action is about to start, and the opening bowlers will continue. Katich and Jaques will hope that they can see of the new ball.

Katich goes!

Simon Katich has been caught by Alistair Cook off the bowling of Matthew Hoggard. He will be disappointed as he was in on 28 and has just given his wicket away by playing to early to a straight ball...

...Phil Jaques and Michael Clarke have had a very good partnership and are both very well set and have brought up their 50s. They will want to carry this work on and get as close to England's total as they can...

...They are both gone now though and England will be pleased that they both did not go on. They both played very well and New South Wales are very close to England's total. Panesar bowled Jaques

nswhalfcenturiesur5.jpg

..Thornely has been run out cheaply for 6 and England will feel they are in with a shout in this match. He played the ball to Gully and set off for a single that was never there and was sent back. A quick throw came in from Paul Collingwood and Read broke the stumps and he was a long way out of his ground.

...There has been an exiting partnership between O'Brien and Creed and they really are pushing this total on...

They Both Depart

Firstly, it was Creed who got run out and it was again a silly run to gully. Then, it seemed as if O'Brien lost all his concentration after this departure and he nicked to the keeper off Mahmood.

It's all over

Mahmood cleaned up the tail, and he really got the rewards he deserved after bowling in the right places all day...

That is it for New South Wales' innings. England will be very happy with the way they bowled but this innings highlights how badly they batted in their first innings. They will now need to prove the doubters wrong and get a decent lead for NSW to attempt to chase on the last day...

Join us later for England's second innings on Hornet Sports...

Thanks a lot for everyone's comments keep posting them in!

It is a shame that Clarke, Jaques and O'Brien couldn't all go on and make hundreds. Nice work you are putting in mate :)
