So lets go back to Manchester where England will need 152 to win. Our commentators are Michael Holding and David Lloyd.

David_Lloyd.jpg
Ok, we're back here at Manchester where England need 152 to win, a harder chase than in the previous T20 match.

Michael_Holding.png
It should be harder for England this game but if they bat well, they could win this.

David_Lloyd.jpg
Well the pitch in the previous match was good for batsman yet both teams only just managed to get to 120. The pitch is better for bowlers today so it will be harder to chase on. Anyway lets go down down to the game where the captain Andrew Strauss and Alastair Cook will open the batting.

Michael_Holding.png
4 runs off the first over from Johnson, a good start for Australia.

David_Lloyd.jpg
Well thats gone just wide of short leg, wait.. Hussey has taken a great catch. Bracken strikes early and Cook goes for 2.

Michael_Holding.png
Not what England wanted early on. Good catch though from Hussey and Cook is out. Pietersen is the new man to the crease.

David_Lloyd.jpg
An expensive over from Bracken, conceding 13 from it. England are 27/1 after 4 over's, a slow start but starting to play a bit quicker.

Michael_Holding.png
Johnson has bowled well and got the big wicket of Pietersen, Ponting taking an easy catch at first slip.

David_Lloyd.jpg
2 balls later and Johnson has his second wicket and it's the captain Strauss who is out. England are in deep trouble here.

Michael_Holding.png
Johnson has 2/13 from 3 over's now. A good bowling performance from him. Anyway it looks like Hilfenhaus is going to have a bowl.

David_Lloyd.jpg
Very straight bowling from Hilfenhaus in his first over. 6 singles however.

Michael_Holding.png
Hopes is going to have a bowl now. Hopefully he can make up from that poor batting performance.

David_Lloyd.jpg
79 runs required from the last 10 over's. Australia have decided to bring Hauritz into the attack.

Michael_Holding.png
8 runs off Hauritz's first over and nearly had Bell out LBW, who was going down to sweep and missed it but just going down leg.

David_Lloyd.jpg
Samit Patel is out and Hauritz gets his first wicket. He's just getting a bit of spin but not too much.

Michael_Holding.png
Hopes is brought back on to bowl his third over. He was bowling pretty full and the final ball is a bouncer which Prior tries to cut but gets a faint top edge straight to the keeper.

David_Lloyd.jpg
Bell and Flintoff are at the crease now and they still have a chance at this game.

Michael_Holding.png
This game is going to go down to the wire. England need 33 runs from the last 4 over's with still Bracken, Hilfenhaus, Johnson and Hauritz will still an over left.

David_Lloyd.jpg
Bracken strikes and Bell goes for 44. Victory is slipping away from grasp for England.

Michael_Holding.png
Well a good over from Bracken and England need 19 off the last 2 over's.

David_Lloyd.jpg
Hilfenhaus gets the wicket of Swann and England are into their tail.

Michael_Holding.png
Broad goes first ball and Hilfenhaus is on a hattrick.

David_Lloyd.jpg
Hattrick ball for Hilfenhaus and a thick inside edge and it races away for 4.

Michael_Holding.png
Well this game is going to be very close. 8 needed off the final over.

David_Lloyd.jpg
Johnson gets another wicket and England are going to have a tough job to win this.

Michael_Holding.png
It all comes down to this. 6 needed off the last ball and Anderson is on strike.

David_Lloyd.jpg
Anderson, can he do it. The crowd is cheering him on and..... he plays and misses. Australia have won. The series is tied 1-1. Now lets have a look at the scorecard.

ENG1stInnings2.jpg

Match Summary:
ENGvAUST202.jpg

Michael_Holding.png
A close match in the end, Ponting getting man of the match for his unbeaten 90. Johnson bowled very well going at around 3 an over and picked up 3 wickets. Bell and Patel got England back in the match but it wasn't good enough to win. In the end Australia won by 5 runs.

David_Lloyd.jpg
Yes, a close match. Ponting deserved man of the match and was unlucky to not get a century. Anyway, thats all we have here from Manchester. The ODI series should be great.

England were on top until about the 30th over where the Australian bowlers bowled a lot better and slowed down the run rate by picking up wicket's. Hauritz deserved man of the match with 4 wickets as well as bowling economically and batted well to give Australia a defendable total.

England need 235 to win, a harder total to chase than in the first game.

Scorecard:

Australia win the second ODI by 5 runs after a good last over from Mitchell Johnson probably won it for them. Johnson got man of the match due to 4 wickets and scored 20 at the end or Australia's Innings. Hauritz bowled well again and was unlucky not to have around 3 wickets. Pietersen and Bell batted well but it was not enough to get a win.

England have won the toss and elected to field. A weird decision on a batsman's paradise. A pretty sunny day here at The Rose Bowl and should make for some high scores.

After 5 over's Australia are 15/0. Haddin is 8* off 18 and Marsh is 7* off 13 balls.

Broad gets the wicket of Haddin. A very slow innings making 13 off over 30 balls.
Haddin LBW b. Broad 13

After 10 over's Australia are 29/1. Marsh is 14* off 25 and Ponting scored a single off his first ball.

After 15 over's Australia are 51/1. Marsh is 33* off 41 and Ponting is on 2* off 15.

After 20 over's Australia are 70/1. Marsh is 48* off 61 and Ponting is 6* off 25 balls.

That is Marsh's fifty coming off 64 balls.

After 25 over's Australia are 89/1. Marsh is on 61* off 71 and Ponting is batting really slowly on 12* off 45.

After 30 over's Australia are 117/1. Marsh is 81* off 87 and Ponting is 19* off 60 deliveries.

Australia take their second powerplay and Ponting takes this as a sign to up the tempo and he hits 2 four's in 3 balls, also his first fours of the innings.

Great powerplay for Australia scoring 47 runs without losing a wicket.

After 35 over's Australia are 164/1. Marsh is on 99* off 100 and Ponting is on 48* off 77 deliveries and the run rate is starting to rise.

And thats a century for Shaun Marsh coming off 101 balls. Beautiful batting from him.

50 for Ponting coming off 79 balls.

After 40 over's Australia are 198/1. Marsh is 117* off 113 and Ponting is on 64* off 94.

After 45 over's Australia are 232/1. Marsh is 129* off 127 and Ponting is 84* off 112.

The first six of the game and it also brings up Ponting's century coming off 119 balls.

What a great innings from Shaun Marsh making 150 and it will also be the end of his innings unless it is a no ball or wide and he gets back on strike.

Scorecard:
AUS1stInnings5.jpg

Haddin batted slowly while Marsh started off nicely. Haddin got out and Ponting also had trouble scoring runs. The final powerplay made him attack and he kept on going to make a century. Marsh was also batting great making 150 at over a run a ball. Australia were smarter in this game conserving wickets and attacking at the end. They finish with a way better score than in the first 2 games.

After 20 over's England are 95/3. Strauss is 43* off 50 and Patel is 1* off 2 balls.

Hilfenhaus is bowling very well picking up his third wicket.
Patel b. Hilfenhaus 5

How did that miss the stumps, no camera angle can tell us how but Haddin takes the stumping oppurtunity and Strauss is out.
Strauss st. Haddin b. Hauritz 44

After 25 over's England are 127/5. Prior is 16* off 14 and Flintoff is 11* off 9 balls.

Thats a big wicket. North gets the wicket of Flintoff.

Swann c. Ponting b. Hauritz 2

After 30 over's England are 153/7. Prior is 23* off 25 and Broad is 1* off 1 ball.

Prior is out and England are in real trouble here. North is proving effective with the ball getting his second wicket.
Prior LBW b. North 24

Broad is out and England will lose by a mile here.
Broad c. Hussey b. Hauritz 7

Hauritz gets his first ever ODI five wicket haul. What a good bowling performance from him today.
Anderson b. Hauritz 7

Scorecard:

An easy victory in the end for Australia, winning by over 100 runs. Marsh was great with the bat making 150* and so was Ponting making an unbeaten century as well. England started well building a good partnership between Strauss and Cook but then it all fell apart. Hauritz and Hilfenhaus bowled really well taking 8 wickets between them. North was also pretty effective taking 2 wickets. Australia get an easy win in the end and they go even closer to winning the ODI series.

Australia won the toss and elected to bat first. If Australia win this game, they win the series.

After 5 over's Australia are 30/0. Hussey is 16* off 17 and Marsh is 12* off 15 balls.

After 10 over's Australia are 67/0. Hussey is 37* off 35 and Marsh is 26* off 29 balls.

After getting out 2 times in the forties, Hussey finally makes 50. Maybe opening the batting put less pressure on him.

After 15 over's Australia are 102/0. Hussey is 59* off 50 and Marsh is 38* off 45.

Marsh makes 50 but can he go on to make a century.

After 20 over's Australia are 135/0. Hussey is 71* off 65 and Marsh is 58* off 60.

After 25 over's Australia are 175/0. Hussey is 92* off 83 and Marsh is 76* off 74 deliveries.

Australia is going along well and Hussey brings up 100.

Marsh also makes a century, his second in 2 games.

After 30 over's Australia are 216/0. Hussey is 107* off 96 and Marsh is 100* off 93 balls.

After 35 over's Australia are 263/0. Hussey is 116* off 108 and Marsh is 136* off 113 deliveries.

Marsh makes his second 150 in two games but can he make the first ever ODI double century.

After 40 over's Australia are 309/0. Hussey is 135* off 116 and Marsh is 164* off 134 balls.

Michael Hussey is in form as he brings up 150.

Shaun Marsh now will go into the record books as the only player so far to score an ODI double century.

After 45 over's Australia are 365/0. Hussey is 152* off 130 and Marsh is 201* off 152 balls.

Marsh is finally out and Sidebottom gets the only wicket so far.
Marsh LBW b. Sidebottom 221

AUS1stInnings6.jpg

Marsh and Hussey were superb scoring over 150 each and Marsh going into the record books with a double century. Ponting also played a nice innings at the end to give Australia a total of above 400. That innings will give Australia the series unless England can pull off a miracle win.

This is an Ashes series. When the Tests, ODI's and Twenty20's are completed, then the story is done.

Finish or continue some of your older ones, or make a new one. :)

Different format for this game

England went out to bat chasing a monster target of 419 for victory. They need to win this one as well.

After a good first over from Mitchell Johnson, England went onto the attack reaching 34/0 from 5 over's. They continued to bat well but some great fielding from Ferguson reaching out and somehow grabbing it then hitting the stumps directly left Strauss stranded.

Strauss run out 37

England lost another wicket, this time Pietersen. Hilfenhaus had got a wicket and we were on top again.

Pietersen LBW b. Hilfenhaus 7

The next few over's were pretty tight including a maiden from Hopes. Hilfenhaus was bowling well and got the wicket of Cook before he could make a half century.

Cook LBW b. Hilfenhaus 42

They started to play aggressively though and Bell and Patel put on a good partnership. Bollinger was brought back and got the wicket of Patel trapped in front for 24.

Patel LBW b. Bollinger 24

The next ten overs was all England though. Prior going to 36 off 25 balls and Bell going into the 80's getting closer to three figures. Bell was finally out though for 85 off 66 to the bowling of Mitchell Johnson and the game would probably go to Australia.

Bell b. Johnson 85

Prior then went just before making 50 and Englands tail was exposed.

Prior LBW b. Johnson 48

Swann was dismissed for 12 by Hopes and that was pretty much it for England's chances of winning.

Swann LBW b. Hopes 12

Hilfenhaus continued to bowl well and got the wicket of Flintoff. England still need over 100 to win and it looks very unlikely.

Flintoff c. Hussey b. Hilfenhaus 37

Broad then got out to the bowling of Hauritz caught and bowled.

Broad c & b. Hauritz 4

Anderson got out to Bollinger and the match was over, England falling well short of their target.

Anderson c. Hauritz b. Bollinger 11

Scorecard:
ENG1stInnings6.jpg

Match Summary:
ENGvAUSODI4.jpg

A good performance by Australia finishing with an easy win. Marsh was superb earning man of the match and Australia backed his performance up bowling England out well short of their target, Bell top scoring with 85.
