Grant not angry about result

0,,10270~3519883,00.jpg

Lewis Price was the Man Of The Match.

Avram Grant said in an interview after the match between Chelsea and Derby County at Stamford Bridge that he was not angry with the result. Derby shockingly beat Chelsea away from home in the first game of the season. Grant said it was not the result he was angry with, it was the players.

He said this to BBC "I'm not angry at the result. I think that Derby County played exceptionally well. They had a few chances, took them and won the game fairly. They deserved the win. What I'm angry about is that we didn't play well.

The result is fine, the players weren't. Everything we learned in pre-season went out the window, down the drain. What was the point of pre-season if we weren't going to learn anything from it? We're not ready to win the title yet so we better turn it around, fast.

I don't like incompetence, in fact I hate it. When something or someone is not good enough, it or they gets replaced. The defence made errors again. Conceded again. I'm going to be blunt about this, we need another defender. We're looking at a few possibilities so we'll probably make a transaction in a few days."

Great interview mate Grant seems angry at the moment might help you get some wins under you belt KIU mate!

Good interview there by Grant. You need to have a big heart to accept your mistakes and Grant did that. he didnt make excuses like Mourinho made, so this will really help in the progress of the team..KUTGW

Chelsea sign Quaresma

10316.jpg

A huge signing for Chelsea.

Chelsea manager Avram Grant has splashed the cash for Portuguese winger Ricardo Quaresma. Chelsea opened up their cheque books earlier this morning and sent a helfty ?23 million to Porto after Quaresma signed his new Chelsea contract. Quarema, who joined Porto from Barcelona in 2004 for ?4.1 million, is said to be extremely eager to join up with his team mates.

This is Avram Grant's second signing at Chelsea, the first being ?12.25 million Italian striker Tommaso Rocchi. Grant said this to BBC "I know that Ricardo [Quaresma] will be a fantastic player here. He has the right attitude, right ambition and right general talent.

He has proven himself at Porto. Now all he has to do is use his talent at Chelsea. He's got enough experience behind him. Of course he can still improve. He has fantastic raw ability and I'm sure that more of it can be used. We have world class coaches here so there is no reason why he can't reach an even higher level.

There were some reports that I'd be signing a defender but that was my psychological advantage over everyone else. Everyone thought I was after a defender, fake reports were made that I was going to sign some people but they weren't true. It was a tactical move."

Chelsea boss Avram Grant is also currently enjoying the adulation of the fans after securing the signature of right winger Ricardo Quaresma. Fans are delighted that Quaresma will soon be strutting his stuff at Stamford Bridge and can't wait to see the twenty three year old in action.

One fan said this "This is a great buy. Avram Grant has come in, made his mark at the club already. He's not going all guns blazing with money. He's making serious signings where we really need to improve. We're also playing much better football now. We're passing it about and doing really well."

Well thats a huge signing a probably one of best emerging wingers in recent time. Well Chelsea turning out to have many Portuguese players. Quaresma would be the key this season for me.
KUTGW Mani :clap

Cheers Shan. Cheers to everyone who voted for my story to win Story Of The Month. I'm not going to continue the trend of stories ending after winning SOTM and I'm going to continue this for a long time.

Bit of a different update, just trying things.

Coaches Report - Wigan Athletic

You're going to be playing Wigan Athletic at home tomorrow. Nearly everyone sees this as a walk in the park for you but after your loss to Derby, it's going to be tough to bring your team back up. That game has been wiped from your team's memory though after the signing of Ricardo Quaresma. He's brought a certain buzz to the team.

I watched Wigan lose 3-1 to West Ham in the Premiership last Saturday. Wigan were playing a good attacking game. They were at a high tempo with a 4-4-2 formation. They try to get the ball on to the wings to Jason Koumas and Antonio Valencia. Our pitch is quite small so it will be difficult for them to get it to the wing as most teams play through the middle at the Bridge.

Wigan really like to play direct football. We should stop this straight away, close them down early before they can get to the back four. The Wigan defence is very vulnerable at times. They aren't the quickest defenders and struggle with crosses. We should go out with a pacey team and go at their throats straight away.

Their strikers, especially Emile Heskey can pose a threat to a low moraled defence. They aren't that great aerially but when they go at teams with the ball at their feet, they can be a threat at goal.

We should look to play Ricardo Quaresma in this game. I don't think he's ready to start as he's not totally with the team yet in training but we expect to win this game so he should play at least thirty minutes. If we're winning comfortably at half time, I suggest we bring him on.

Salomon Olembe, Kevin Kilbane and Emmerson Boyce are out injured for Wigan and Michael Brown is suspended. We have to make do without Wayne Bridge, Michael Ballack and Michael Essien who's suspended for this game after being sent off against Derby.

Good luck in the match Avram.

Really like this type of new update. loved it...Great job Mani and nice you trying out some new and interesting things...

Chelsea dominate as Drogba shines

didier_drogba_1_the_associated_pres.jpg

Drogba celebrates his second.

Didier Drogba was the Man Of The Match and stole the show with two goals against Wigan away from home in the Premiership clash. Chelsea, as expected, won the game with Drogba netting twice to seal the deal. Drogba opened the scoring with a stunning strike in the eighth minute and later on in the seventy eighth minute.

Chelsea went into this game with plenty of changes from their previous match. A complete re-do of the formation for Avram Grant's team was in order. He went out with a 2-3-1-2-2 formation. A very rare formation, using his tactics to the full. Joe Cole came in for Shaun Wright-Phillips, Claude Makélélé replaced the suspended Michael Essien and Ricardo Carvalho was bumped down to the bench in place of Alex. Andriy Shevchenko won his place back on the bench.

Wigan got the game underway from left to right but it wasn't until the eighth minute until either team had a chance. A throw in from Juliano Belletti went to Frank Lampard who controlled the ball perfectly. Lampard guided it on to Tommaso Rocchi who turned and played it on to Didier Drogba. Drogba took two wonderful touches before curling the ball into the top corner and putting Chelsea ahead.

Straight from the Wigan kick off, Tommaso Rocchi piled on the pressure on Titus Bramble. Rocchi tackled Bramble and continued with the ball. He was up against the keeper but Kirkland did enough to put it out of the goal and it was cleared for a throw in. Bramble limped off the field and received lengthy treatment after the tackle from Rocchi.

Marcus Bent almost equalised for Wigan. The ball came into the box and after some scrambling around, Bent's foot connected with the ball only to hit the post and go out for a goal kick to Chelsea.

Both teams continued to attack and had some chances but neither team were really looking that dominant. That was until the fourty fourth minute. Wigan attacked from the right wing with Antonio Valencia. His cross came in and Bent got a head on it. It was fantastically saved by Petr Cech and Cech did the double with the rebound.

The whistle blew for half time and Chelsea deservedly had the lead at the break. Wigan had some good chances however, the most notable one being at the end of the half with Marcus Bent. Avram Grant was the happier man though, especially since he had a formiddable bench with eager players to come on still.

Chelsea made one change at half time, which sent the fans into raptures. New signing Ricardo Quaresma put on his number twenty seven Chelsea shirt and ran onto the pitch. He replaced Joe Cole for the second half of the game.

After a boring start to the second half, Avram Grant made his final two changes to get his players motivated. Andriy Shevchenko came on for Tommaso Rocchi and Shaun Wright-Phillips for Florent Malouda. Neither had had a notable game but neither had been bad either.

Chelsea scored their second in the seventy eighth minute with Didier Drogba again. Frank Lampard touched the ball on from a free-kick to Drogba who piledrived the ball along the ground into the right corner. Drogba ran to the corner flag and celebrated his second goal of the game.

Chelsea continued to pile on the pressure to score a third goal but all chances were being blocked by Chris Kirkland. The whistle blew for full time and Chelsea had one their first Premiership game under Avram Grant. Didier Drogba worked his magic and ran Wigan ragged all game.

Complete domination by the Blues and good win for Chelsea after losing to Derby at home. Grant must be happy with the performance of Drogba. Hope the from continues...

Full Time Score: Chelsea 3-1 Everton
------------------Rocchi (9), Lampard (13), Rocchi (73)-Yakubu (26)

Overview:
We took the lead very early on, then doubled it again in a short space of time. I thought we were dominating and were going to the whole game. Lampard was fantastic throughout by getting involved all the game and the goals went through him. But the problem was defensively. Carvalho switched for a moment, again! And a goal was scored. Shocking. In the second half we were all over them again though. I made some changes and they worked. We got the breathing space we needed. Quaresma assisted Rocchi to seal the game. Fantastic work by the attackers but poor form by the defenders.

A good win for Chelsea, but an expected one. Seems the defence needs tightening, but they did only let in just the one goal. Rocchi looks like a great buy.

No more BBC updates, Mani?

Agree with it all there. The BBC updates will continue, just updating like this because it's quicker for a few matches, until I'm into the season properly :).

Fair enough. If you hadn't noticed, I started up the 'Barclays Prem' story again, which you seemed to enjoy :)
