Barry , Joaquin not to play Champions League​

Shocking news came when Liverpool's case to allow Barry and Joaquin to play in The UEFA Champions League season this yr was turned down by UEFA . Gareth Barry who moved from Aston Villa this season played for Villa in the UEFA Cup first round qualifier and Joaquin played for Valencia in the UEFA Champions League third round qualifier . This could be a major setback as Liverpool's most important wingers will be missing the Champions League as they are cup tied . Rafa Benitez said that he was unhappy that UEFA had turned down the case but he still remains confident that his side has depth and they will perform in the Champions League .

Huntelaar to Liverpool ?

The reports say that Dutch international Klaas Jan Huntelaar is ver near to sign for Liverpool . The Ajax has accepted the offer from Liverpool of 2m + Dirk Kuyt for the talented young Dutch striker . Huntelaar wil be at Anfield to complete his medical on Wednesday and the deal will be finalized and completed on Friday . Huntelaar will be 50,000 as his weekly wages . Liverpool Manager Rafa Benitez was pleased that his striker worries would be over as Huntelaar signs for Liverpool . Rafa also rated Huntelaar more better than his Dutch team mate Nistelrooy . Lets hope the deal is agreed and he does play for Liverpool .

Klaas at Liverpool​

Klaas Jan Huntelaar has signed for Liverpool for swap deal worth Sami Hyypia and Andrej Voronin plus 2.1m . Ajax were happy at getting the two players . While Liverpool and its fans were delighted by the signing of the young Dutch striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar . This may bring results back to Anfield . Rafa benitez has finished his search for striker . He was delighted on the completion of the deal and said that Huntelaar would be a future Liverpool legend . On the other hand Huntelaar said he joined Liverpool because the way they play suites his game and he also said it was his dream to play with Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher and it has come true . Huntelaar was given the no 10 jersey which was previous owned by Michael Owen .

Bulgarian keeper Nikolay Mihaylov made his debut for Bulgaria in a 3-0 defeat againts Belarus . Steve Finnan completed whole 90 minutes for Ireland in a 2-2 draw against Germany . Riise was a second half sub for Norwag in a 4-2 win against Hungary while Daniel Agger was a key man in Denmark's 6-0 victory over Latvia . Martin Skrtel played 78 minuted for Slovakia in a 6-1 win over San Marino . Gareth Barry was a second half sub in England huge 10-0 win over Andoraa while Steven Gerrard was the man of the match and scored one goal . Yossi Benayoun played 60min for Israel in a 6-2 win over Macedonia and Fernando Torres was brought on for just 14 mins in Spains 4-2 win over Iceland .

Liverpool just werent able to convert chances in this game also and were stopped not once but 4 times by Wigan keeper Carlo Nash . This game turned out to be boring as the game was just played in the midfield . Both the teams struggled to get there passes right . Liverpool dominated the possession wand shots but werent able to score .

Huntelaar made his debut for Liverpool and just minutes in the match he was on the score sheet but his shot was brilliant cleared of the line by defender Olembe . Joaquin created one chnace for Barry but Carlo Nash made and easy save . While Wiagn asked question as Koumas shot was deflected out by Agger for a corner and Sibieski header was cleared of the line by Deggen who had returned from injury .

In the second half Fernando Torres who i yet to score for Liverpool this season had a great one on one with the keeper but he produced a great reflex save from Nash . Liverpool created more chances but they were either saved by Nash or cleared of by the defenders . Kilbane's free kick troubled Reina but it was finally cleared by Gerrard . At the end Liverpool were held to another 0-0 draw and the traveling fans were upset with the result . Rafa looked tense as his position as manager was now on stake .

Rafa Sacked by Liverpool​

After a poor start to the new season Liverpool owners have Tom Hicks and George Gillet have sacked the Liverpool Manager Rafa benitez just one after Liverpool's poor 0-0 draw against Wigan Athletic . Liverpool are placed at 9th position which is their worst ever start in the Premier League .

"Liverpool Football Club can confirm that Rafael Benitez has had his contract as manager terminated today. This follows meetings over the yesterday ," the Premier League club said in an official statement on its Web site (www.liverpoolfc.tv).

"Everybody at Liverpool FC would like to thank Rafa for his contribution since taking over as manager some 3 years back .

It added: "We will now be concentrating all our efforts on identifying a new manager for Liverpool and there will be no further comment until that appointment is made."

Among those linked with the job have been Frank Rijkaard, who has left Barcelona, and Roberto Mancini, who has been sacked by Inter Milan and Luis Philipe Scolari who is the current coach of Portugal .

British bookmakers William Hill make Scolari 11/4 favourite to succeed Benitez at Anfield while Dutch compatriot Rijkaard leads the betting odds at 2/1 with Ladbrokes .

Liverpool travel to Preston ​

Liverpool have drawn with championship side Preston North End in the Carling Cup 3rd Round . Chelsea will play away against Norwich City while arsenal will travel to Blackpool . The toughest tie was handed to Manchester United who will travel to St James Park to play against Newcastle United .

Luis Philipe Scolari who lead Brazil to world cup triumph in 2002 and who developed Portugal to one of the best national side has been appointed as new manager to succeed the Spaniard Rafael Benitez . Scolari was the front runner for the job and has signed a 2 year deal worth 3m with Liverpool . Brazilian said it was his dream to manage one of the best premiership side and he is proud that he has got a chance to manage Liverpool .
