Story The TT Lion's Journey - Rejuvanated

The Youth Academy

What has the youth academy got in store for us today? Lets see:

Age: 17 YO
No ITS

And we get:

Allan Lovergrove
LHBatsman, LM Bowler, respectable batting form, respectable bowling form, fresh
A steady player with feeble leadership skills and worthless experience.
Battrick Rating: 1,231
Wages: ?250 p/w

Coach's Comments:
Can't bat, Can't bowl, doesn't wicketkeep, can't field, lacks concentration, is consistant, tires after 1 ball.

Manager's Thoughts:
Well, atleast he had a funny name. Fired.

Lions cruise home with 9 wickets to spare
Jazz Messengers collapse to late bursts from Tuckett and Crouch

Another great victory for the Lions here, beating the Jazz Messengers comprehensibly by 9 wickets and with about 10 overs to spare.
The Jazz Messengers won the toss and elected to bat. They started off poorly, losing premier batsman Piper for 7 to Atkinson in the second over. Runako struck again to dismiss Evans quickly afterwards. Pritton also fell after a brief partnership to a good piece of fielding from Craig Bunn, leaving the score at 67/3. Lefu and Preese then built a massive 90 run partnership to put them firmly in the driving seat. Atkinson got walloped by Lefu as soon as he was brought back in, but struck in his second over in the spell bowling Lefu for a brillian 81. The Lions were back in the game - and how. From 189/4, the Jazz Messengers collapsed to a sub-par 229! Crouch and Tuckett came into the attack, and the intentions of the batsmen were to play them off. But Tuckett struck by getting Preece to pad it up towards skipper Dennis for a fine fifty. He then bowled Wiles with a fantastic delivery, leaving them stranded at 214/7. Then came the Crouch show, as he took three wickets in four balls -Antrobus, Saadat and Clare- to rock the Messengers. From a position where 300 looked possible, 250 now looked near impossible at 226/9. Crouch then removed Beechers to wrap up the innings for 229.
Set 230 to win, Bunn and Delop set about wrecking the opposition bowling, with a 126 run partnership. Bunn was taking the attack to the opposition, and was quite doubfully out LBW, the ball hitting his chest as he tried to slog sweep another to the fence (And he isn't the fittest person in the world, mind you). But Greenwood blazed a quick 50 and with Delop took the Lions home with 9 wickets and 58 balls to spare. Crouch taking the MOTM honours.

Ratings:

Beh, not bad. Would look much better with a full strength squad on GFI.

Income

Not much. About four thousand. I guess the Messengers aren't that great a team.

League Match 5 Vs. Barbados Bralwers
Barbados Brawlers CG - 17/2/06 15:30

This will be an interesting match. The Barbados Brawlers are unbeaten this season so far, but they are an inactive team! Their opening lineup consists of 4 spinners all averaging 20 or less and on a dusty track. Their squad is quite a powerful one -4 players with BTRs over 10,000! This is going to be a tough match, and I am not willing to lose. Bring it on.

Lineup (probable): Cox, Delop, Greenwood, Crouch, Lonergan, Dennis (*), Rudi, Fallon (+), Drayton, Atkinson, Tuckett.

Pitch: Dusty
Match orders: Play as Normal
Bowling orders: Sets of five
Toss: Bat First

Tune in tommorrow as the match gets underway!

Barbados Brawlers deal a knockout!
TT Lions outclassed as they collapse to a 100 run loss!
scorecard0vc.jpg

A thouroughly dissapointing match. First off all the bowlers decided that today is the day that they will take the day off. Well, apart from good old Drayt that is.
Then, Greenwood and Lonergan who are fighting for a spot in the team both decide they don't want it and get out for a 6 ball duck each...
Poor performance really, but we were outclassed thoroughly - as the ratings suggest. Really need to pull our socks up -the members and sponsors aren't looking happy with a 2/5 win/loss ratio...

Ratings:
Severly outdone, but looks OK on a PAN. Need to find 2 good batsmen though, with Greenwood and Lonergan not interesed. Also need to tighten up the bowling.

Income
None. It was an away game (All though it was a full house)

Tune in tommorrow as I may have a friendly organized!

Ridley Dunn
RH Batsman, RM Bowler, mediocre batting form, proficient bowling form, fresh

Coach's Comments:
Decent batsman, Can't bowl, doesn't wicketkeep, sharp fielder, has focus and concentration, inconsistant, can play out the fifty overs.

Manager's Thoughts:
And finally we get a good player. Except to see him feature in a couple of our future games soon!

Bryant calls it quits!
Pacer Bryant wants to spend more time with family
-Reuters
The TT Lions fast bowler Mitchell Bryant has decided to call it a day, a recent Press Release from the West Indian based team reports.
"Well, he has just had twins, and he feels that cricket isn't the best career choice. We aprreciate what he has done with the team and wish him the best of luck in his future" reported team manager Zorax Doom.
"Well, you know when its time to give up, and I feel its time. I'm still young, and have just recently completed University. I feel I need to support my family now, and felt that playing cricket just won't cut it it terms of paying bills. But I thank the team for the good experiences and for supporting me all the way"
Left-arm fast bowler Mitchell Bryant was a former wicketkeeper before he took to bowling. He has taken 7 wickets @ 24.86 apiece.

League Match 6 Vs. The Calypso Kings
Barbados Brawlers CG - 17/2/06 15:30

This will be an interesting match, because I am going in with a reversed batting order! Its just an experiment however, so don't expect me to do this often...
The Calypso Kings are a decent side, but are managerless after their manager quit shortly after joining the Planetcricket Battrick League 2006.

Lineup (probable): Tuckett, Drayton, Atkinson, Fallon(+), Rudi, Delop, Dunn, Cox, Crouch, Dennis(*), Bunn.

Pitch: Slow
Match orders: Play as Normal
Bowling orders: Sets of five
Toss: Bat First

Tune in as the match gets underway in a few moments!
