...it was the greatest thing ever pissing off my mate every other ball appealing for nothing!

Ha. Yep: spamming that "uuurreeeeeghhhhhH!!!!" button after every ball used to drive everyone nuts. "Hoowowwwwwiisseeeeeeeee???" "UUurrghhhheeeeeee"... "BLLUURGHHHH!!!"

I've long been an advocate for getting this in, but not until I was guaranteed that it would be linked to various other factors: I didn't want it to be gimmicky and tacked on, so for its inclusion I wanted to be sure that excessive appealing for non-wickets would:
a) make the umpire annoyed and less likely to give you the benefit of the doubt later on.
and
b) Eventually get sides warned, and then move to penalty runs or even (I think?) defaulting the match to the opposing team. I *think* that can happen (not that it ever DOES!)...

There's certainly a "three strikes" system in place for domestic cricket within Australia whereby you're warned once, the captain is notified. If excessive appealing continues, both the Captain and Bowler/Player are warned a final time. If it continues, I think there's the option to send the player to the bench and/or various fines involved. Doesn't get that far ever in cricket because nobody is that stupid, but I could see how some n00b bashing the "appeal" button would be incredibly frustrating if you're one to play online frequently.

...that being said, an easy "switch on/switch off" button for automatic dismissals and player-initiated appealing would solve that problem. I do like being in control of the appeal process, again it's something uniquely cricket.

When I played 97 it was a riot to bash that button every other ball just for that amazingly horrific "appeal sfx" as you've so eloquently described! Thing of beauty that game...

Ok guys get real and stop fooling around with crazy wishes lol.

1)Have some sort of mode which adds longevity (Just refer to my post in ASK CHIEF THREAD)
2)Customizable bowling actions (of course not the animation but you can adjust the running speed to say Jog , Normal runup ,Steaming in plus you should be able to setup the length of the runup say short , normal and long and finally you should also be able to set up the delivery stride from being to slowly animated for medium/medium fast bowlers , full throttle animation for express pacers and in b/w for fast medium bowlers)

Wouldn't controlling the bowler's run-up from the start of the run-up give us better control? i.e. We have selected the type of the delivery, speed and timing while releasing and same for batting and fielding. But we have never had anything physical to do till now.
I guess it would be better if we are able to walk the batsman down the pitch, run the bowler upto the crease(building a certain momentum for proper pace) and obviously run and field the ball.

i try to see things realistic...
i would be quite satisfied with an updated version of ic10.
better animations, better ai, better fielding (dives included) and a better presentation.....i guess thats the dircetion we have to expect maybe with some nice and small improvements here and there.

Aside from the usual little bonus wishes people have been making here and there
The only thing I wish for in a cricket game is better shot animation and selection

Tired of seeing bouncers being put away for a boundary off the front foot whereas a yorker being slapped away off the back
Plus with regards to animation, Dear Trickstar, where are the famous leg glances and other shots?
With that said, I'd love to see more variety in the shots (scoop shots etc)

I do have some mildly crazy wishes too, stuff that, for me, adds the excitement in cricket
1. Better facial animation, please oh please the players need to react better to getting out, or scoring a boundary, or reaching a milestone.
2. Sledging (especially in matches between rivals)
3. I know it's quite bizarre, but maybe a post match ceremony? A brief one?

That's actually a really good idea but I don't think they're gonna make it that way.

I've also been thinking about bowler's manual run-up, If they can pull that off properly, it'd certainly make things far more realistic and would give us more control over the game.

They really need to work hard on batting and bowling animation, particularly on shots animation because they weren't so good in their previous games, even Brian Lara Cricket 99's batting animation was better.

Make sure the crowds generate an atmosphere and that they respond to events on the pitch.

...

I don't think Sledging would be in the game, it would negatively promote cricket which is called as a gentleman's game.
But it would be better to call it as taunting, its sportive and not harsh unlike sledging.
