Things we can do without...

Have you got some statistics to back that up, or is that just an assumption?

You'll find even on MODERN games there's a pretty even split between console gaming and PC gaming, although the more advanced the game technology (3D Graphics, etc) you get a bigger drop-off from PC to Console gaming.

Given the existence of this very forum and how active all the relevant PC Cricket Games downloads forum are, I think you'll find there's just as many PC based gamers as there are console gamers... The cost of licensing teams, uniforms, players names, sponsors and gear would be overwhelming for a developer unless they get a reasonable "all in one" deal with the ICC or something like that. Again, players "likenesses" are generally down to the individual players or their managers these days and I imagine it's a hugely complex and time-consuming issue to resolve.

A great cricket game with great mechanics and a basic level of customizing is going to move the product, not the built-in stuff which changes so regularly (like team uniforms and players names/likenesses)... and if the built-in stuff ISN'T customizable, you instantly date your game the minute it ships with uneditable players, kits and so on. I'd much prefer to have the freedom to do that myself (on a console or PC) than get stuck with a game that's dated. Unless they're updating rosters and kits every other year, which I highly doubt.

As Mark says above, all the effort should be going into a great GAME not whether or not they have the right uniforms. A basic editor with rudimentary customization is really all that's needed, because if the gameplay isn't any good, nobody's going to buy it no matter what it looks like.

I'm just going to leave this here...
Game Database, Best Selling Video Games, Game Sales, Million Sellers, Top Selling - VGChartz
... and say nothing more about it.

Most modern games do not have a even split at all, skyrim is a pretty light game and has its roots on the PC but still sold 10 million across the two consoles and 2.5 million on PC, theres no comparison especially when you consider the PS3 version didnt even work properly. Planet cricket is not representative of the whole market.

Unless I'm reading that wrong you apparently didn't sell a single copy on PC...
Must have given away too many review copies ;)

These aren't official 100% accurate figures, but they're a useful barometer. They also don't round up, so anything under 10k registers as 0...

Oh also FACT FANS in terms of the video games industry, for some reason, Australia is always counted as part of "Europe". Why, I do not know (probably because it's a PAL territory?) but for all sorts of things it is referred to as such.

Console is where the money is so lets move on
and talk about these cricket games not a pc vs console war again.

Last thing i will say about is that the pc is lucky it's getting ashes 2013
and bigant cricket, ic2010 was not released on pc remember.

Please buy real copies people and we will continue to get pc cricket games,
or they will be forced to shut pc version again.:yes

Yes austrailia is called europe because it's pal, eng and aus having
always been pal.

PC is the reason that cricket game don't sell, because most people just copy it and sell it for themselves like in South Asia.
I can remember when I was in Pakistan, they had games like Cricket 07, 04, Ashes, Cricket revolutions for like RS50, that's like 20p.

Gotta agree with the post above, marketing definitely has scope of improvement.

...Wow, okay. Well I stand firmly corrected then. When I was in Melbourne during the launch of AC09 there were posters/marketing everywhere for that game, little less for IC10 (which I didn't buy, ironically, until last year) so clearly, based on that barometer, then the money really is in the console version.

...guess that's all the more motivation to make it "personalization" with built-in features for kit creation, etc?

Its all about gameplay...

The names, kits, bats etc, are not as important as the almighty gameplay.

You know:
- no slogging yorkers,
- weird shots over 3rd man for six,
- clipping spinners off the pads for six with ease,
- weird catches in the slips running forward, the keeper taking catches above his head when up to the stumps off an edge (yeah right),
- weird looking catches in the outfield, even if the player is just standing there waiting for the ball, then a weird dive,
- the fielders just watching the ball run past them towards the boundary with no urgency to dive or sprint,
- and many many more...

good points, AC09 never felt fluid which is important for a sports game.

I wonder if access to upcoming games forum can be restricted and immature users are discouraged to post in such forums like something the mods did with the issues forum. My point is that the developers are busy people and they give us valuable time. That time should not be spent by them reading ridiculous wishlists posted by immature users with good intentions but limited knowledge as to what makes cricket games good.

I think after seeing the Codemasters forums the past few releases, Chief is up to the task.

"Spinners" and "ease" in the same sentence while describing IC10?
