They're saying he's not a Test match specialist any more, but at heart it was a Test player's hundred; he got a start first and then played the big shots.

1st 25: 49 balls 1x4
2nd 25: 29 balls 2x4
3rd 25: 23 balls 3x4
4th 25: 21 balls 3x4

It's one for the cricket purists and maybe the kids, but I have to say there are a few younger international players who would do well to observe closely.

It was a quality player 100. Easily the best batsmen on show.

I wouldn't say he is the best batsman on show but he is definitely the classiest batsman in world cricket atm.

The way he rocks on the back foot and cuts the ball is just amazing, no one else looks as good as him while playing that shot and I don't think I need to mention that he is also excellent at driving on the font foot. He's improved so much that it makes me wanna say that he is more reliable than Mahela who always looks vulnerable at the crease.

Well usually when someone makes a 100 on a pitch like that and everyone else struggles you'd say he was the best batsmen on show.

Dont blame the pitch when batsman cannot even score runs.

SL was in dumps too, they fought back. Not Kiwis.

Yea and good on them. But this match sort of shows how bad this ground is when this has been the best result for a team batting second at the R. Premadasa Stadium for the 2009 season. In two attempts in August, Sri Lanka was not able to get within 130 runs of Pakistan?s totals.

They batted first. Go look up the ground record 11 games in a row, batting side's won. It's no co-incidence either. The ball definitely seamed and swung second innings.

Samaweera will never be a 100+ strike rate player, SL need to use him smartly to bat through like he did here. He's the kind of guy you want when conditions are tough but when you're chasing 300+ not so much. That's the sad thing and that's why he's not been good in ODIs til now.

Hmm there was a bit of swing but nothing that was lethal. It was channel bowling. I mean it was like they had never seen a bit of swing before. It wasnt like it was banana swing with the ball moving in the air. People are talking like it was a minefield out there when it was far from that. That was one of the best bowling performances I've seen in the recent past in a line up with every bowler bowling great lengths and lines.

The new ball swung a bit but that was hardly unexpected. Bond and Tuffey got movement as well with the new ball. Mccullum, Guptill, Elliot got themselves out. Mccullum played a ridiculous shot when they were still in a rebuilding phase. Just like Kandamby. Ryder was lazy with his footwork. Oram nibbled at a wide one just moving away with a touch of reverse. All of Malinga's wickets were his typical dissmisals whether it be a flat track or green top and he pretty much reverses it in any game with his slingy action. Fast and full thats how he always bowls nothing to do with the pitch. Mendis got his googly to turn back and jayasuriya got hardly any turn so that wasn't an issue.

NZ lost coz of good bowling and by leaking 50 runs too many. Would've been a whole different story if we got knocked over for less than 150.

Not a good performance by newzeland they could have atleast try to stay there rather then thinking about runs.We should leave that now we should concentrate on the next match which is nz vs ind i think india can win it easily dont forgot last odi which india played vs nz sachin made 163.;)

I don't think New Zealand really stand a chance aganist the Indian squad.

McCullum was an idiot, he's an international cricketer, he shouldn't be getting "restless" when they clearly need him to build an innings.

Would've been a whole different story if we'd won the toss also.

Would've, could've should've
