Two men in the Championship... We're back!!!

Hi guys! I am back, so I thought I'd better post! Trev, you're doing great, however Maney seems to be loitering on the brink like when I was last here! How did last season go?

Hey Craig. Thanks for the post. It's still our first season. Updates have been halted with us away most of these holidays. It'll be back towards the end of the holidays hopefully :)

Rasiak celebrates his crucial goal

Southampton gave Bristol City their 4th defeat in the last six games, Grzegorz Rasiak's goal separating the two teams come the final whistle. Southampton deserved the result as Bristol City continue to slide back down the table after their early rampage.

The deciding goal came just 15 minutes into the match. Stern Jon collected the ball outside the box, and with it 2-on-2, he laid a through ball to Rasiak who finished coolly into the top right corner.

Southampton had most of the possession as well as most of the chances, including a great chance for Adam Hammill to make it 2-0 late on. Adriano Basso produced a great save to keep City in with a chance. Tamas Vask? had a late header saved superbly by Kelvin Davis which meant Southampton held onto three crucial points.

Southampton manager George Burley expressed his delight at coming away from Ashton Gate with the win. "This is a tough place to come and get points, and we have succeeded tonight. A good gutsy performance and I think we deserved it over the 90 minutes. These are the tough games we need to win if we are to be in contention for promotion this season, and I'm delighted that we have got three points here tonight."

Jack Teague told the press that he wasn't worried about the dip in form of late. "This is a tough league and being a newly promoted side it's going to be hard at times. We started off excellently and we knew we wouldn't be able to keep that up for over 40 games. We will have our dips in form, it's just how quickly we recover that will decide where we finish."

The wheels on his wagon have fallen off!

Everyone jump on mine, there's plenty of space!

You had no wheels on yours to start with and are yet to add any to it! Don't worry guys, I'm fixing the wagon as we speak so don't be alarmed :p

Stern Jon always was a legend. :p

Letting standards slip in your quality of football but your presentation is still as good as ever, Jack. Quality work from both of you.

Cheers James for those wonderful words of wisdom :p

Thinking of doing a transfer update showing all my signings, so look out for that...

I am being sent the save-game as I type this, so there is a danger I might update!!

Always worth looking to see how badly you do, I agree. Although saying that, I know how badly you do anyway so the surprise is ruined for me ;) :p

2007/08 Signings

Malcolm Christie - ST - Free Transfer: After playing 5 seasons at Premiership side Middlesbrough he was released at the end of the 06/07 season. Malcolm Christie has always been hurt by injuries not playing over 20 games in a season since 2003. The 28 year old has still not fulfilled his potential but will be looking to get his career back on track with a successful season at newly promoted Championship side Bristol City.

Jerel Ifil - CB - ?50k (Swindon): The 25 year old centre back has been in football since he was 14, playing his first game at the age of 17. He got his first real chance at Swindon where he has played for the past 4 seasons. With Bristol City needing new faces after being promoted from League One, and new manager Jack Teague at the helm, this is the perfect chance for Ifil to make his mark at a higher stage.

Jason Talbot - LB - ?22k (Port Vale): This young left back has real talent and his move to Bristol City is his first real to show that potential to English football. The left winger has played at lower league level for the past few years at Port Vale, but with the nourishment of young manager Jack Teague, Talbot could turn into a fantastic player.

Mark Iuliano - CB - Free Transfer: The ex-Italian international has experience at every level of football. With Bristol City in need of experience in a relatively young team Iuliano is the perfect man. He played 9 seasons at top Italian side Juventus in which he also appeared 19 times for his country. Iuliano's job will be to show experience for manager Jack Teague and be solid at the back when called upon.
