India have elected to bat first in the crucial 4th ODI which they need to win in order to stay in the series. Rahul Dravid, the new captain who has replaced Ganguly elected to bat first after correctly calling on the coin.
Ganguly who was fined in the 2nd ODI for slow over rate, was again found guilty of the same offence and has been banned for 6 matches. Ganguly has made an appeal against the ICC verdict and he was declared eligible to play this ODI. But the BCCI had selected the team already without him and didnt want to disturb the newly selected team and so Ganguly sits out of this match!

RD: We would have a bat first. The wicket looks full of runs. If we can get a total of 280 to 290, we would be in a good position
RS: So, Saurav is sitting out of this match? How does it feel captaining the side? Any pressure?
RD: Absolutely not. We would miss the experience of Saurav but we have the players who can win us the match.
RS: Whats ur team composition?
RD: Dinesh Mongia comes in place of Saurav. Agarkar replaces Harbhajan and we are playing 2 seamers and a spinner (Kumble, Agarkar, Nehra and Khan)
RS: Thanks Dravid. So Atapattu, your luck with the toss has been bad this series?
MA: I know. Was hoping for a better one here but anyway, we do not attach too much importance on the toss. It has not played any difference in the outcome of the matches.

MA: Fernanda sits out and Maharoof gets a game here!

India started in a disastrous fashion losing Sehwag.Then immediatelty Dhoni followed back as he tried to straight drive a Zoysa delivery but to his (and my!) horror, the ball swung a bit and took the edge off the bat and thudded into the stumps.
Next to come in was Kaif. He played sensibly along with Tendulkar who was beginning to open up with delighful strokes. The Sri Lankan bowling was very impressive today with Vaas and Zoysa not giving the batsman room to hit shots in the ground. The batsmen were made to work for their runs.
Just when one thought Kaif would forge a big partnership with Sachin, Kaif was run out in foolish circumstances. However fast a runner Kaif is, he dabbed a ball down the wicket and ran like there was no life for him and Chandana, almost as quick as Kaif is, scooped on the ball and hit the stumps with stunning accuracy. Kaif was out for 15. Dravid then joined Tendulkar and guided India to the end of the field restrictions and to the Drinks break.
India can be a bit comfortable that Tendulkar is there on a well made 54*. But he too had his share of lives today. First, he survived a lucky LBW decision and then Muralitharan missed a difficult chance at mid off. But the Indian fans would be hoping Sachin gets a big hundred here and takes India close to a commanding 300!
