Tight bowling by Sri Lanka

A very good phase for Sri Lanka where India are struggling to score quick runs. Their run rate has dropped down to below 5 runs an over as both Dravid and Yuvraj are finding it tough to pierce the gaps and score runs. Vaas has been tremendous giving away only 31 runs off 10 overs.

India have struggled right throughout this innings and have now reached 200/7. The batsman get in, bat slowly and when they look like opening up, throw their wickets away. Dinesh Mongia had a very good partnership with Yuvraj and India progressed from 120/4 from 25 overs to 176/4 in 35 overs at 5.6 per over. But when it looked like both will take the attack to the Sri Lankans, Dinesh Mongia was caught at mid off when he came down the wicket in a rush of blood and miscued a shot.
Then in the worst of dismissals, Yuvraj hit a on drive straight to the fielder and called for a run. Agarkar started the run, but Yuvraj sent him back. Agarkar could not get back easily and was run out for 2 as India buried themselves into more trouble.
Yuvraj is fighting out there at 48* but he needs solid and attacking support from the tail enders. Zaheer Khan, who scored a smashing 50 in the previous game could have been sent up the order but it seems it didnt strike the Indian captain, Dravid.
Projected Scores:
At 4 per over: 232
At 5 per over: 240
At 6 per over: 248
At 7 per over: 256
At 8 per over: 264
The best projected score now for India looks to be 248 if they score well. But one wont be surprised if India are shot out below 225!

India have finally been bowled out for 234, a very paltry score to defend! India who were 200/7 after 42 overs, then tried to accelerate but had no good batsman along with Yuvraj to have a successful acceleration. Kumble was bowled by Jayasuriya. Then Zaheer Khan, the hero of the previous match, swung his bat again and that too merrily around and picked up 27 runs before another swing of his bat cost him his wicket. And then Sri Lanka completed the formalities by bowling Nehra.
India must be very disappointed with this total as they never looked at ease in this innings. Sri Lanka have put in an impressive performance and only something extraordinary here can see India levelling this series.

Yeah. But I think its going to be a very tough job defending such a total. The ball is moving off the pitch and the fast bowlers are getting some seam movement. So, at least 20 - 30 runs would have given more respectability! Lets watch what India have in store when they come to bowl!

Yes it is a good innins under pressure, i think this match is going in similar lines to the one played between India-Pak at Kanpur,5th odi, Hope Sanath doesnt plays innings as Afridi played Sai.

India are currently being soundly beatn by Sri Lanka. Some really shocking spineless bowling performance by India as Sri Lanka are taking the attack to the Indians and are running away with this series. After a wonderful start where India had Sri Lanka at 15/0 after 5 overs, they threw it all away in the quest of wicket taking fields when they should have persisted with the tight bowling and should have forced errors off the Lankans. Agarkar had a man at backward point and continuously aimed at Gunawardena's ribs but Gunawardena consistently and nonchalantly hooked it for fours. India got some respite from this hitting as Yuvraj got Gunawardena stumped.
Jaysuriya, though he started off very slowly, started smashing the bowlers once Gunawardena was out. Even after the 15 overs, the Sri Lankans scored at 6 runs per over and none of the bowlers could make a definite impression. India have already used as many as 6 bowlers within the 25 overs and none (except for Nehra who has been a little economical) have been good.
Itas only a short time before Sri Lanka might be the proud winners of this Coca Cola Cup.
Yes this match seems to be going the same way but here instead of blitz hitting, it is awesome yet sublime attacking going on! Finding it really tough to contain the Sri Lankans.

Sri Lanka romp home and win the series 3-1 with an amazing display of powerful batting. Atapattu and Jayasuriya revived back their old destructive partnership to bring the Indians totally down to the earth. Jaysuriya it belligerent shots and Atapattu joined him. It was only a formality in the end for Sri Lanka to win the match. They won with 4.2 overs to spare but were a bit bogged down in the end and had a slight delay in their victory march.
The Indians must be terribly disappointed and they deserve this defeat. They did not apply themselves and the batting failed to click totally today. And with a low total, the bowlers could not be blamed much though one failed to see the fighting spirit in the bowlers. Their body language said it all.
This is India's rare home series ODI loss. And this is not the best preparation when the team is going to undertake a tough New Zealand tour. Sri Lanka on the other hand must be full of high spirits. They came back superbly from a 1-0 defeat to win this series 3-1. All their top players contributed and they played like a well jelled unit.
With one more match to go, India should hope they get a victory and boost their spirits for the New Zealand tour. Match report and presentation ceremony coming up!

actually, this is the best thing abt this patch.. it plays great sometimes and at times, when you do not play well, you have a very bad and an off day.
i will surely use different tv telecasts.. the thing is, except for sky sports, no other tv telecasts are fully designed so its a case of star sports and ten sports together in manys screens.. i will use ur dish tv graphics too..
