Yes seems all over for India now. Sri Lanka have really played well in this match, and I think have really upped their performance after losing the first match.

Arghhh... When I restart the game, why does it change from Night to Day? Now, no matter what I do, it does not change to Night. I had to restart the exe as it hanged. Now not able to change it back to Night.

Anyways, will continue in Day mode. India are 87/5

Sri Lanka poised to win third ODI!

SRI LANKA POISED TO WIN THIRD ODI - INDIA 105/6!
Yuvraj Singh 30* (36)
H.Singh 1* (3)
N.Zoysa 2/39 (8)

Current RR: 4.2 | Req. RR: 5.24

Yuvraj Singh is fighting a grim battle as India look to be falling down to earth with a very poor performance with the bat. When it looked like 236 wont be a big task, India have proved that no total is a cakewalk and have delivered a shocking performance.

India are 105/6 after 25 overs and they need 131 runs to win off the next 25 overs which now seems an impossible task with the tail enders in operation.

Mohammed Kaif was run out for 11 as the Sri Lankan fielders today are fielding like hares on the ground. It was a superb pick up and throw by Jayawardena that found the fast running Kaif short of his ground.

SOME RESPITE FOR THE INDIANS - 158/8
Yuvraj Singh 45* (60)
Zaheer Khan 30* (14)
S.Jayasuriya 1/40 (9)

Zaheer Khan is happily merrying away to some easy runs through edges as the Sri Lankan fielding is slowly getting mediocre. There is no man positioned at gully and slips and Zaheer Khan is easily scoring runs off the edges through that area. Yuvraj at the other end is reaching his 50 as 18 runs came off two overs to give India some respite after they lost Bhajji and Kumble

bhajjijumbo0na.jpg

Zaheer and Yuvraj have stitched together a 50 run partnership already.

India require 78 runs to win off 96 balls! Sri Lanka have to pick these two wickets or else they might see a miracle here!

Third fastest 50 by an Indian for Zaheer Khan!

Zaheer Khan hits third fastest Indian half century!
India 185/9
Zaheer Khan 50* (26)
Yuvraj Singh 52

Zaheer Khan has tore into the Sri Lankan attack picking up 50 runs off 26 balls. It has been his day and he has capitalised on some wayward Sri Lankan bowling. But Yuvraj Singh was run out at an inopportune time, leaving the Sri Lankans with only one wicket to get!

India need 51 runs to win off 72 balls at 4.25 per over!

India need 51 off 72 balls at 4.25 per over! Can they get it with the last wicket??

SRI LANKA WIN BY 43 RUNS!
Zaheer Khan 56* (29)
C.Vaas 2/43
N.Zoysa 2/39
S.Jayasuriya 2/47

Sri Lanka 2-1 up this series!

Sri Lanka finally end the Indian resistance and emerge winners by 43 runs. Zaheer's smashing knock went to waste as Nehra tried to pull a ball to deep square leg but missed and was bowled!

Sri Lanka now are 2-1 up this series and India need to win the remaining two matches if they have to win this series. A challenging task ahead of them. They really need to work on their batting which faltered today.

Stay tuned for presentation and match report!

Good performance from Srilanks defending a modest total against a powerful batting line up

I was a bit excited when Zaheer smashed those runs.. Though a lot of them were edges, it did not go to the fielders and went for lot of runs.. But gotta give credit to the Lankans for the super tight line!

India need to work hard now to win this series.

Sri Lankan win by 43 runs!

Sorry for not having a prolonged match presentation ceremony! The telecast has been switched off and are having some technical problems.

Score Card and Other Stats

The news from the KSCA stadium is that Zaheer Khan is being adjudged Man of the Match for his brilliant 50 off 26 balls! Zaheer is visibly happy at his batting exploits and he hopes that he can contribute more with the bat for India and help them to victories. He feels if Yuvraj had stayed with him for some more time, India could have won this contest as they needed just 4.25 runs per over to win this one!

Marvan Atapattu: We're visibly elated at this victory!
atapattu0510046zh.jpg

Marvan Atapattu sounded really happy at the press conferrence as his team which were the underdogs at the start of this series and after a defeat in the first match, have bounced back really well to lead 2-1. They need only 1 win to seal this series and Atapattu is confident that they can do it

Reporter: Did you expect the team to rebound after the recent debacles, especially the first ODI loss?
MA: I always have confidence in the team. We have world class talented okayers like Jayasuriya, Jayawardena, Muralitharan, Vaas, etc. We have been through a tough time recently and almost all teams (except for Australia and India to an extent!) have been through this tough time.

Reporter: Do you feel you can win this series?
MA: Of course, why not? We are 2-1. We need only one more win to seal this. Going by our performances in the past two ODI's, we are really confident that we can do it.

Reporter: Who do you think have performed really well this series?
MA: All have done their part so far very well. Jayasuriya, Gunawardena, Sangakkara, Jayawardena, etc have all done their jobs well. Now we need some one to go on and get a big hundred.

Saurav Ganguly - Nothing is lost yet!
14bajji2am.jpg

Saurav Ganguly sounded optimistic when he met up with the reporters after his team's visibly disappointing performance with the bat in the 3rd game at Bangalore.

Reporter: What do you think has gone wrong with the team that won the ODI series against Pakistan and beat Sri Lanka in the first ODI?
SG: I dont think too much has gone wrong for us. Its just that Sri Lanka are proving to be better than us in the last two games.

Reporter: But you guys failed to chase a relatively modest total of 235
SG: Yes, some off days are bound to happen for the batsman. They found chasing yesterday tough to handle. But we displayed good courage when Zaheer and Yuvraj almost took us to victory!

Reporter: You finally got some runs under your belt. How do you feel?
SG: Still, I am not satisfied. I need to get a big hundred to get myself 100% confident. Still, I need to convert that 39's and 40's into big 100's.

Reporter: How do you rate your chances in the next two matches?
SG: We still are in the series. We have been in this situation before against Pakistan in Pakistan where we came back from 2-1 to win 3-2. We can do it again here!

Thank you Johann.. I love reading compliments and this is one of them..

Yes, the pressure is certainly on India. They might face severe public reaction if they fail to win the ODI series in their home grounds!

I am no match for u Sai u r right there at the top, I am still waiting for the NZ tour buddy

No mate!!! I dont consider myself at the top or bottom..

NZ tour will start once this series is over. I am itching to get into that tour. I want to restore India some pride by winning the series there in NZ.

4th ODI - a sneak preview!

Sanjay Manjrekar: This series between India and Sri Lanka has now reached a very interesting stage of play. Sri Lanka lead the series 2-1. India are down the dumps and need to win this match badly to go to the final match 2-2. On the other hand, Sri Lanka would like to seal this here itself in order to avoid the high voltage pressure at New Delhi where the 5th ODI would take place. Both teams are hungry to win this match and that should set up this encounter very well.

This match is going to be played in Pune. This wicket looks to be another batting paradise of a wicket with bothing in it for the bowlers. The Indian pitches off late have been the same and this adds another one to the list. The team winning the toss would love to have a bat first on this wicket but since this is a Day game, chances of a successful run chase is also possible.

Both teams are practising heavily out on the middle. The Indian players, after a heavy workout, having a light volleyball game within themselves

Ravi Shastri is now with Yuvraj Singh to speak about India's series so far and their 4th ODI prospects
PIC1862.gif

Shastri: So, how is it shaping up for this match Yuvi?
Yuvi: We're shaping up very well Ravi. We are very hungry to win this match. The last two defeats have hurt us very badly and we are eager to win the next two to win this series! Its a do or die battle for us!

Shastri: What do you think went wrong in the last two matches?
Yuvi: I think our overall game suffered. We might have got a bit overconfident after the Pakistan series win and the first ODI win. Our batting for the first time came apart in the previous match.

Shastri: You've been dropping chances lately in fielding. Why do you think this is happening?
Yuvi: It happens on that particular day. I set high standards for myself in fielding but still sometimes, these things happen. I will make sure they do not happen again.

Shastri: All the best Yuvi for the match. Back to you, Sanjay.

Sanjay: Thanks Ravi. The match would start tomorrow and would be telecast Live on Star Sports. Stay tuned!
