Superb innings from Kaif there keep it up kaif, victory is victory sai neither be a consolidation so what mate great performance

but a defeat is also a defeat buddy..

anyways, good batting so far by kaif and yuvraj..

Balance tilting back towards Sri Lanka - 80 off 108 balls!

Yuvraj OUT - India require 86 from 120 balls!

Whenever it is India playing, it is better to celebrate only when the last ball of the match is bowled. India proving this principle here. The Indian spectator is not able to judge whether India is going to win or not till the last moment. Yuvraj is OUT for 23 skying a slow ball and providing the Lankans with some relief. Dinesh Mongia joins Kaif who is batting on 78*. This match is not over yet!

Dinesh Mongia OUT - 80 needed off 108 balls!

Balance has surely tilted back towards a Sri Lankan 4-1 series win. Mongia played a rash shot to find the fielder at the boundary pick up a catch. India now require 80 off 108 balls with only 4 wickets remaining. Agarkar is the last recognised batsman for India and he has to support Kaif if India are to win this one!

Balance back in India's favor

Balance back in India's favor - 52 off 78 balls!
M Kaif 101*

WHAT AN INNINGS?? ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!!! Kaif has played one of his best innings under immense pressure. India have already lost the series and looked to be on course to lose another one when Sri Lanka racked up 252. India were 32/3 when 22/2 when Kaif came in and India were 32/3 and in dire straits. Since then, it has been a masterful innings from this Uttar Pradesh lad, scoring at ease against the fast bowlers and defending the spinners well. He brought up his century with a cover drive to the boundary. Immediately after his century, he waved his arms to the crowd and acknowledged their applause.

kaifhundred7oz.jpg

Luckily, he survived the next ball after his century. Agarkar hit the ball to the on side and called Kaif for a run and then sent him back. Chandana's pick up and throw totally missed the stumps and Kaif regained his crease. Had it hit the stumps, Kaif would have gone by now!

well made century made by kaif india should win this match now

Agarkar OUT but India on the road of victory!

Agarkar OUT but India on course of a win - 29 off 60 balls!
M Kaif 112* (118)

Agarkar skied a catch and was caught and bowled by Chandana but India are well on course to a win here at Delhi.

The 38th over, Maharoof bowled to Kaif was taken to the cleaners by Kaif. First ball dot ball, second ball Agarkar takes single, third ball Kaif hits an on drive for four, 4th ball Kaif dances down the track and hits Maharoof over his head for another four, fifth ball Kaif cover drives Maharoof for another four. Then in the next over after Chandana got rid of Agarkar, Zaheer hit two consecutive fours off edges. Zaheer enjoying his new found star status with the bat as India are running away to a win (not an easy one though!)

Stunning turnaround - CLIMAX

CLIMAX - stunning turnaround by Sri Lanka!
M Kaif 115*
H Singh 6* (3)

India in an attempt to finish off this match, finds themselves hanging on a precarious balance! India at the start of the 41st over needed 29 off 60 balls. The first ball was hit for a single by Kaif. The second ball was lofted high to the boundary by Khan. The third ball was a short one from Maharoof and Khan hooked it but to his horror, found the fielder at midwicket take the catch! Fourth ball, Harbhajan launched into the ball and hit it into orbit for a six. Fifth ball was a dot ball but the worst thing happened in the 6th ball when Harbhajan defended a yorker on the on side and called Kaif for a non existent single. Kaif who is the fastest runner in the side, could not make his ground and the bails were whipped off..

Sri Lanka are right back into this match needing 1 wicket to finish this off whearas India need 18 runs from 9 overs. The wisest and the best thing India should do now is get the winning runs through singles and two's and not do anything stupid!

An amazing match where the fortunes have fluctuated greatly!

INDIA REQUIRE 14 RUNS OFF 48 BALLS!

It was a 4 run over as India now needs 14 runs off 48 balls. Sri Lankans still sense a chance of a win and India must make sure they win this one to salvage pride! Kumble and Harbhajan in the middle!

9 runs to win off 7 overs!

India require 9 runs off 42 balls. Harbhajan Singh got a lucky four in the previous over off Muralitharan. He tried to cover drive the ball but got a thick outside edge with no one present at the slips. Both Harbhajan and Kumble not taking any unnecessary risks and look to take India through to a hard fought win!

India have won the fifth and final ODI of the series by 1 wicket, thereby salvaging some pride for them. Sri Lanka have won the series 3-2 though they even gave a great fight in a dead match to lost only by 1 wicket! Kumble hit the winning runs as India finally restored some pride within themselves!

Match Report and Presentation Ceremony to follow!

India should win this match, from here, this is a very good story.

Yeah, India came very close to making a complete mess of it. But good win at the end, to restore some pride.

Now its down to NZ!!!

Coca Cola Cup: Sri Lanka win 3-2

Sri Lanka win Coca Cola Cup 3-2

In the end of it all, Sri Lanka are the deserving winners of the Coca Cola Cup ODI series against India. They have really played like champions here and have come out winners. India on the other hand must look back into what they did wrong in this series and must build up soon because they are going to face England and New Zealand in a triangular series in New Zealand where the wickets are not going to be batsman friendly!

Coming to the fifth and final ODI, India today displayed good spirit though they need not have messed up the chase when they lost those 9 wickets. They should have won even easier but anyway, this win should boost the morale of the side after a no show in the previous matches.

Presentation Ceremony

S.Manjrekar: Welcome all here to the presentation ceremony of the Coca Cola ODI series. We have had a wonderful series with Sri Lanka emerging the winners of it but India gave a good account of themselves in this final match. First of all, I would like to call upon the Indian captain, Rahul Dravid to collect the runners up cheque. Rahul, tough luck in the series but good work today?

RD: Yes Sanjay. We didnt play to our potential in this series and all credit to the Lankans. They deserved this trophy better. But we played well today and got a good win ahead of the triangular series in New Zealand. We hope we can improve our performance

SM: The positives from this series?
RD: We have had some good positives this series. Of course, the batting of Sachin, Saurav, Yuvraj, Kaif, etc. Sehwag had a lean series but he can come back to form soon.

SM: Good luck for the New Zealand tour Rahul. Now for the Man of the match Award. I would like to call upon MR. Ranbir Singh Mahendra to present this award. And it goes to the centurion today, Mohammed Kaif

(Kaif received award from Mahendra)

SM: Congrats Kaif. Truly a great innings
MK: Thanks Sanjay. It feels good to be part of the team's win and its more satisfying to contribute in a big way to it.

SM: After Sri Lanka got 252, did you think you can chase that total?
MK: It was not an impossible total. We knew we could chase it. We have a team of world class batsmen who can chase any total under any conditions

SM: Thanks Kaif. Now for the Man of the series award. Again, I would like Mr. Ranbir Singh Mahendra to present this award. We have had a lot of great performances this series. But this award goes to Sanath Jayasuriya.

(Jayasuriya collects his award from Ranbir Mahendra)

SM: Great performance Sanath in this series
Sanath: It is good to get this award. I always want to play well for my country and happy i got this award!!

SM: Your bowling seems to improve with every game?
Sanath: Yes, I work on bowling too and it improve also... I put effort in bowling also and it improves.

SM: Thanks Sanath. Now for the most valuable player of the tournament award. Goes to Yuvraj Singh for his string of good scores

(Yuvraj Singh gets his award from the dias! Doesnt give a speech as time is running out)

SM: Now for the big one! I would like to call upon the Sri Lankan captain, Marvan Atapattu to collect the winners cheque and the Coca Cola Trophy

(the Sri Lankan players let a huge roarrrr as Marvan collects the trophy from the Indian President APJ Abdul Kalam.)

z_p01match.jpg

SM: Congrats Marvan. A truly superb performance!
MA: Thanks Sanjay. We played awesome cricket this series and we deserved to win here. We are elated with this series win.

SM: What contributed the most to this win?
MA: Our bowling and fielding did their best job. We did not let India get away with easy runs and that counted for a lot in the end!

SM: All the best Marvan. I will let you enjoy this with your team mates. Thats all we have here from the Ferozhshah Kotla. Hope you enjoyed our telecast. Its time to say good bye from our studios.
