West Indies in Australia

It was good to see the West Indies put on a good partnership. They batted today pretty well really. It was the first innings which let them down.

And perhaps the first 60 overs they bowled, you, know, the 60 overs where they took about 0/260..... ;) Good effort by the Windies, but all this talk of 'well, if you take out their first innings, and half of the Aussie innings.... the Windies are ahead of the game.'

I mean seriously, that is totally irrelevant. It's like saying in an NBA match 'yeah, the Lakers were outscored 50- 80 in the first half, but they won the third quater 25 - 20! Are the West Indies so far from Test standard that sporadic periods of competitiveness have to be praised as so highly?

Hang on man. I didn't say anything of the sort. I just said their first innings let them down. It was good to see West Indies dominating and in control for a while.

Their record of late hasn't been flash and considering Australia is the best team it shows hope for the next match or next series. It was good to see them finally perform with the bat.

Geez, man, open your eyes! They would only have needed to bat out the first session today to make this game a true contest. Just pick one or two of the bad umpire decisions for the Windies, reverse them and you probably would have pushed their innings into that.

Australia may have started at 1/256 but were 7/360 at lunch that day. It was not beyond the skills of the West Indies to have been able to win this game. A first innings total of 250? OMG! Impossible!

Considering how many of you expected this to be over by day 3, it's been quite a surprising game.

If a few decisions went the Windies way, Aus wouldn't be batting right now, instead Lara and Samuels would probably still be there and this match would be heading for a draw.

Anyhow the Aussies won the match quite comfortably. It was funny to see Hayden getting out when the scores were tied and then Ponting facing two bouncers from Gayle!

3 bouncers in fact :)
Hayden was going for his 50 but he failed :( But Hussey deserved to hit the winning runs. Great win by Aus, and they will announce their team for the 3rd test match today.

All you Clarke haters, you've got your wish, hes gone!

Australia squad for 3rd test: Justin Langer, Matthew Hayden, Ricky Ponting (captain), Brad Hodge, Mike Hussey, Andrew Symonds, Adam Gilchrist, Shane Warne, Brett Lee, Stuart MacGill, Glenn McGrath, Nathan Bracken.

Langer will come in as a straight swap for Clarke and Bracken to carry the drinks again.
I reckon Symonds is the outside chance, Bracken will probably come in.

Im a proud Clarke hater (not personaly though) :D
Time for Hussey to show Clarke how to get runs in the middle order
Go Hussey :happy

Hussey and Hodge will do great, top 3 run scores for Australia if they play a whole season, the thing with them 2 is they dont have to much time on there hands and this is what they have been waiting for there whole cricketing lives, which clarke wont have that passion as much as them to thrive for succes
