West Indies in England

Sidebottom was class, great line and length, good use of swing, and decent pace. Would have taken wickets against any attack if he bowled like that, brilliant.

Next test team for me:
Strauss
Cook
Vaughan
Pietersen
Bell
Prior
Flintoff
Harmison
Sidebottom
Hoggard
Panesar

Sorted. Sidebottom is a better test bowler than Plunkett, well if he continues like that anyway.

Sidebottom was excellent today, however, I wouldn't play him at a bouncy wicket like OT, especially not if Hoggard is fit.

Anyway, on to today's proceedings. Harmison and Plunkett back to some kind of form, even if they weren't consistent and they were helped by some poor stroke play from the West Indies batsmen.

Great to see KP past 158, thought that was never going to happen:p. And good to see Prior get a good score again, a great little innings from him this morning.

We should really win this now, with probably 7 wickets needed in 3 days.

Colly>Bell imo. ;)

Wow, West Indies got owned there. They seem to be in a really bad place at the moment. Catches going down, players getting injured during the game and unable to take part, poor bowling, poor batting.

Sidebottom has a quite new action. He's a good bowler by the looks. Probably not used to him or know much about him. probably a lack of research wouldn't surprise me.

Plunkett bowled and batted well as well. I wouldn't drop him for Sidebottom. If Hoggard is better for the next test, then i'd consider leaving him out.

Sidebottom bowled very well in his comeback match.
Windies are geting kaned at the moment, looks like the Poms will go one-nil up on the thrid day.

I'm sure an unkown Sidebottom can do it against a mediocre West Indies team in English conditions but I really hope we don't play him against India

why not? it's in england, swinging ball.
yeh but the Indian batting line up will be a lot better than this one. Also I'd rather see Plunkett and if he's playing against India they will probably take him on a tour which i just really wouldn't want to happen because i reckon he'd be out of his depth. I guess if he carys on like this we can't drop him though

doesn't matter who you're playing against. if you get it right, you will cause problems

The indians aren't the best players of pace as i saw on their tour of SA but maybe they have improved. we will see

Well if they guy takes bundles of wickets then you can't drop him. If he can only do well in extreme bowler friendly conditions then no he should be second choice.

I knew that was coming. :laugh

Sidebottom has impressed me today. I'd still pick Anderson ahead of him though.
Care to justify his haircut? :p

I don't see the problem with Prior either. Gilly's 35/36 now & Test debuted in 1999 didn't he?
I bet Prior's bald head fooled cricketman93. :)
His got a Gilchrist feel about him.

Prior has a very good technique,i reckon he could just about get into the English team on his batting alone.

Better than Strauss at the moment.....It's nice to have a keeper who you don't actually realise is a keeper when you see him bat! Shame he dropped one yesterday, up till then his keeping has been excellent.

But the thing is though Sidebottom is bowling well and taking advantage of the conditions available, something that he is doing better than Plunkett. Sidebottom has played brilliantly so far and looked much more dangerous than the inconsistent Plunkett.
