West Indies in England

lol thats why im encouraging them ... to ... keep going!

It ain't happening. Windes have had teams in a position like this so many times but they blow it. We'll make 450 and bowl them out for around 200.

Still sure about that ? :p

Fidel Edwards bowls a mean bouncer, Mikey Holding seemed to enjoy it anyway. West Indies need to get back to the old mould of fast bowlers, they will just fizz away if they keep with this medium pace boredom. They've been lucky today so far but it might just be a bowlers pitch, we'll have to wait and see.

Will be good to see Prior and Bell bat under a bit of pressure, Strauss is really frustrating now,he hasn't done it since last summer as far as i remember. Can't always rely on Pietersen either and i guess this is Bells chance to prove his point in the Bell/Colly debate. Windies haven't got a spinner either so i reckon Plunkett could get some runs.First challenge for Moores, hopefully now we on't get complacent but i sill think we'll win the test.

Not a great day so far for England, really need some runs from this pair. Cook's in great form, Vaughan did OK and KP keeps up his not great form at OT:p. Nothing wrong with the weather in the north, this is hot for us:p.

Big opportunity to Prior to really show his worth to the side today, before he's come in, with England in a fantastic position. If he wants to be a proper test batsman, he needs to come in and score runs from this kind of situation.

Oh dear, problems from behind the bowler at OT again, remember Sam Allardyce and Peter Reid contributing to Strauss's wicket there last year:p.

Can't wait until I go on Saturday. With the way this match is going, I should see England bat and if the West Indies go well, bowl a bit too.

Strauss' form is very weird, he hasn't had a scoe of over 54 in the last 8 tests (9 including this) but he has only had one score under double figures - A Duck against Aus at Adelaide.

Ever since his wonder year into test cricket he hasn't averaged over 40 in a single year. His place is safe for a while unless Tres makes a miraculous U-Turn or Flintoff turns into Bionic Man. I reckon though that he could be dropped for when/if Fred comes back.

Bell and Prior are doing some good rebuilding, first big test for Prior, though when it gets overcast with the sea breeze at Hove (it's about 1K from the Channel) it does move around a bit, so swing isn't a planet a million miles away for him. Doing well though.

Their bowlers have been much better and although Fidel has been the most expensive and hasn't taken a wicket his pure speed seems to have given them a lift, apart from their shocking over rate.

Strauss missed a straight one, Vaughan missed a straight one, KP gave it away, Haven't seen Colly and Cooks dismissals but the West Indies haven't bowled well enough to take wickets, We've given them to them.

Vaughans wasn't a straight one per-se, it was a very good inswinger. The West Indies bowled quite well I thought, better then previous anyway. Bell has grafted well as did Prior until his poor hook shot. 296-7 at the end of the day. Bell still in. If we can get 350 it'll be just about acceptable.

Plunketts dismissal was an odd one, he seemed to step back.

GOod to see them already into the tail they just need to bat well and we might have a game on our hands

Edward's added a lot of fire to their attack, and he caused most of the problems that led top wickets at the other end. Due to this, hopefully it can be a more competeative Test Match with the India series coming up.

We need to reach 350 imo, and we are in a slightly better position that them imo. I thought that Bell played superbly yesterday, he looks such a compact player and knows his game just like Cook. They're the kind of players we need in the Test Match Arena, players who are hungry for runs. Looking forward to the days cricket today, hopefully Harmy can make the most of this bouncy pitch...

The West Indies still only have one batsman capable of staying there and thats Shivnarine Chanderpaul imo. If England get him out before he reaches 50 we've won because Steve Harmison can have some fun on this.

Does anyone know what has happened to Tino Best? He toured in 2004, but I haven't seen him yet this series. Is he dropped, injured, or not in the squad?
