West Indies in England

There's two different views you can take about Strauss.

First View;
He's desperately out of form despite the fact that he's a proven player at international level you cannot afford to carry a player, especially at the top of the innings. The next test is back-to-back so give him a break, leave him out, let him play County Cricket for Middlesex over the last test and ODI series and depending on how he does/how his replacement does, put him in the frame for coming back for the India series.

View two;
He's a class player. He is a proven international player, which is a lot more than you could say for his possible replacements, (Shah, Newman, Joyce, Ramprakash etc) being as the test is back-to-back why not just give him a try to get some runs once more and if he fails again, then drop him.

Personally, I'm very undecided. It depends on who they're lining up to bring in.

harmison has 2 wickets good signs for him

ummm, I think he actually seems to have got worse.

He has 3 innings to get it right imo. Maybe only one. We can't drop Sidebottom and Hoggard has to play.

and billy bowden does it to west indies once again
he just has to get the attention at any cost
I wouldn't say he was attention seeking, I mean Collymore didn't appeal for it. From the bowler's angle it looked as if it could have moved back in I guess, obviously proven wrong by the behind the wicket view.

Anyway, can't wait for tomorrow, hopefully 2 and a half sessions of England batting with hopefully some fireworks from KP and Co. later on. Last year, I went there and KP got out third ball of the morning:p. Then if we give them half an hour to bat at the end of play, that would be ideal. We've really just gotta ride the storm of Edwards, he's the only West Indian bowler that could really bother us.

Griffo, there was no improvement whatsoever from Harmison today, what he did show that was when he got it in the right area, things happened.

I personally would keep Strauss in for the next test, if he doesn't succeed there then, leave him out of the ODI squad and give him time to go away and practice his game in the county scene. See how he does and if he goes well, then bring him into the side for the 1st Test against India.

Personally, from the replays and snicko, I don't think Cook hit it.
No noise or anything, just the movement after it passed the bat, but that has been happening all day if you have watched.
Cook played well outside of the ball, it's just Collymore got it to swing back after it had beaten that batsman, like it has done ALL day, If you have watched the days play.

People go on about Harmison and being extremely fragile mentally, which is true, but in my opinion that isn't his biggest problem. His biggest problem is his action, or more specifically his bowling arm. The comparison Five did during the highlights with Collymore was good, but I've also a seen a comparison of Harmison in 2004 and of him during the winter just gone. The problem is his arm isn't upright, whereas it was during 2004 when he took wickets for fun. With the way his arm is now, it is making him push it down the leg-side and of course he then tries to adjust, but when you're bowling that wide in the first place it's very hard to do that. His fragile mind doesn't help, but it is by no means his biggest problem in my opinion.

Harmison has huge trouble with his wrist position because when he tries to hard because his wrist is always pointing down leg side that forces him to push it even further down leg side.

This series is pretty dissappinting. The West Indies can't deal with Sidebottom and Panesar at all. Their batting does look one of the weakest in world cricket at the moment though. They did ok with the ball.

Lets hope the shorter games later on a more exciting.

West Indies cricket is in a bad place. Apparantly the selectors picked Gayle as captain but the board said no. How does that do Gayle any good?

I agree. I get a bit fed up with the commentators saying that Harmison's only problem is that he needs to relax. There is obviously something technical in it hence the reason England have got Allan Donald in rather than handed out the ganga (not Darren).

well i cant see the game sorry... im just going off cricinfo

Maybe Harmison should try bowling as fast as possible? At least that's what I try when I lose accuracy as is tends to snap the action back into shape. And the reason he got wickets at Headingly was that he bowled top pace.

England selectors need to go... they dont have the balls to make the big descions
